Everton and VAR

The problem is we'll continue getting screwed over until we start highlighting the injustices in the media - be it post match or in press conferences.

We are little old Everton who accept getting rogered by the refs every week so why do people expect the refs to suddenly start making the tough decisions in our favour?

Not like they will have a fuming gurning german right in their faces or a snide old Portuguese fox slagging them off after the game in the media.
Yeh, I remember years ago Moyes going to the refs committee and complaining about the treatment of AJ, which was similar to Zaha, they had a meeting and it did make a difference I am sure.

VAR is extremely dangerous for the game.

Even this season a side could be relegated by a video referee sat hundreds of miles away who decides to apply a completely new set of rules that goes against how the game has been played all season.
Isn't it the case though that the ref has the final say?

No, the VAR referee decides where a "clear and obvious error has been made". But nobody has ever defined what a "clear and obvious error" is, and to one person a "clear and obvious error" may not actually be a "clear and obvious error" to the next person.

Let's say for example it's final day and Bournemouth and Villa are level on points and goal difference.

Both sides are winning 1-0, it's in injury time in second half and as it stands this will send them both down. It's last minute and Grealish wops a ball into the area and it hits a defender's hand, albeit completely accidentally with his arm in a 'natural' position as commentators so often like to say.

Referee waves play on and, after a brief scramble, the ball is cleared for a corner. The defender's arm was by his side, he didn't move his arm towards the ball and he couldn't react quick enough to get his hand out of the way. He could do nothing whatsoever to prevent the ball hitting his hand other than become invisible and have the ball pass right through him.

While the ball is out of play the VAR referee is obliged to look at the incident. Now there is a decision to be made - as any time a ball is handled in the area the VAR must review whatever decision the referee made.

We've seen an array of handballs given and not given this season, and absolutely no consistency into the reasoning why a decision was made. Now it's 100% in the hands of the VAR as to whether Villa get a penalty or not, and whether Bournemouth are relegated if the penalty is converted. Even if the on-field referee completely disagrees with the VAR, he is powerless to overturn the decision.

I honestly think this season should be wrote off, they keep changing the rules as they go along, it's nonsense, how's that fair on teams that have been punished by bad decisions. It's a total mess and results should be null and void.

How ironic the year the RS win their first league is the first year of VAR and dodgy decisions.

Listen to some of you making it out like they have something against us! It's happening to nearly eveyone, there's no reason for anyone to have an agenda against us as it not like we are a threat to anybody.
Nothing to do with an agenda it's about VAR supposedly clearing any doubts to reach the correct decision. Once again on sky ref watch today Dermot Gallagher admitted that a VAR decision had gone against us when Ajeti put his head into the face of Holgate.
It's more than half way through the season and I can't recall a single incident were VAR has positively affected us.

Should be a time limit on it, if it's clear and obvious 30 seconds should be enough to see it, not a couple of minutes fiddling with millimeters for an offside decision. If it cant be judged after 30 seconds then it's not clear and obvious.

Nothing wrong with VAR, its the people running it, they change rules from day to day, this season we have seen lashing out is a red but head butting is not a foul, the same referee's making different decisions for the same incidents , it's bent or they dont know the rules of the game, either way it's been made not fit for purpose.

And some people thought VAR was going to make a difference to the amount of dodgy decisions the RS previously had go their way.

VAR itself can be good if it's used correctly, it's not though

VAR people sitting miles away should contact the ref if anything flags up and advise him to go and have a look at the decision himself, they shouldn't be making decisions because they are getting far to much wrong

top of my head I cannot remember one time this season VAR has worked in our favour but can remember a few times it's royally bummed us

-Pen against brighton
-mina scored against west ham and I still to this day don't know why it was disallowed
-dele alli handball against us when he punched it clear
-Walcott was fouled against brighton, checked and nothing given
-that headbutt on Saturday on holgate
-the Leicester goal late on away, it WAS onside but the whole mess with the linesman putting his flag up, our defneders switched off, they scored it got disallowed and then reversed

any more?

May be something to do with the fact this clown is in charge!
