Me and the wife went to see his show once after seeing him on Most Haunted, we sort of thought it was going to be a fun, jokey affair. The whole audience other than us was there to talk to loved ones who had died, they had posters and items of clothing belonging to these people. Thy did not take kindly to us getting battered and howling with laughter as Derek did the "I am getting the name John, is there a John connected to any one here..."

I wish I could say I'm one of those people who believes in celebrating all human life and you should never be in any way happy when someone dies, as it leaves behind a family, friends and so on.

But that said, I have to be honest - given I truly believe frauds like Acorah are actually evil, profiteering off the delusions of the vulneravle, then I'm not sad in the slightest at his passing. The damage him and his ilk do is horrifying.

He was a sick, twisted, conceited conman in my view. Good riddance.

I get what you mean. To most it's just a bit of showbiz nonsense while the more gullible can be dragged in and be damaged by it. Sort of like the wrestling.

His sort of hocus pocus is practiced with great respect in many countries though. For example in South Korea people visit their versions of Acora before deciding on relationships, business plans etc. Likewise in places like Sri Lanka I've seen people opening new restaurants being virtually forced into hiring a load of 'holy men' to turn up and chant a bit.

The mystical realm is a good racket.
