Klopp will defo play the new lad and who was on the bench last night, Nathaniel Philips (?) Origi, the young lad Elliott, Curtis Jones, Lallana. Probably surrounded by 1st team from last night. VD won’t play and one of Salad and Mane prob won’t start. I get they done us last time out bit really the only changes for them in that game we’re Shaquiri, Lallana and Origi, the rest were regular starters. Without VD and one or both of their full backs they are very beatable.

I called the correct score for the city game. What I got wrong was the manner of the defeat. That game highlighted the gulf between the two sides. The way City passed it in intricate triangles around us at speed. A significant amount of blues on here thought we were doing well by the end of the first half. However I could see, as most on here could, that it was only a matter of time before the goals came. Yes we capitalised well from the goalkeepers mistake but City were always in control. It was men vs boys. I accepted it.

I am a realist. The statistics are against us for this fixture. We will need to battle like we did in our three previous meetings before the 5-2 drubbing we received last time. You need fitness for that though and we look shot! Too many games in too short a period.

We will lose. I'm just hoping from somewhere the blues can give us some dignity in loss. With a stellar midfield to choose from between Siggy, Delph, Tom and maybe Snides I'm not expecting miracles. Them lot don't even take this famous fixture as serious anymore such is the distance between us. We may see a weaker side put out again by Klopp so that may help.

If we receive a drilling it's imperative the team doesn't lose its confidence and end up on a losing run again. We are perilously close to the bottom. I'm sure having Carlo steer the ship will prevent such an outcome.

My prediction, we lose 3-1!

If van Dijk doesn't play and they make that many changes then I'll be annoyed if we don't give it a real go. I'll be surprised if he leaves that many out though. I think the core of the side will still be there.

He may make a couple of changes but make no mistake he will want to grind us down like a tent peg.

Exactly. Whoever plays will have it drummed into them how important the game is. If he made a host of changes at Goodison then I'd give us a real chance but at Anfield they are still firm favourites.

Assuming it's going to be something like this:

Adrian, Milner, Gomez, Phillips, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Jones, Minamino, Origi, Elliott

Pickford, Sidibe, Mina, Holgate, Digne, Coleman, Davies, Schneiderlin, Richarlison, Kean, Calvert-Lewin

If that's the kind of team they put out then we should be thinking we can win the game. I'd be surprised if they go that weak though.

Klopp said something post-match yesterday about he'll freshen the team up and he 'needs support' which implies it's probably going to raise a few eyebrows.
