If Gbamin was the replacement for Gueye and Gomes is Gomes, then we're still desperately missing a central midfielder who can provide assists or score goals. If one is available, he needs to be signed. Gomes will never score more than 5 season and Gbamin as far as I know is very defensively minded. Any team looking to win things needs plenty of goals from midfield, and our wingers or number 10s - Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Walcott - certainly won't be getting on the scoresheet often. Our central halves don't score, nor do our full backs. It's very scary.

Julian Weigl is moving to Benfica for £17m from Dortmund. He has been highly rated in the past but seems to have stalled recently and needed a change. I would be surprised if we haven't looked at him as we are desperate for a proper deep-lying playmaker who can pull the strings, he's cheap and at a good age. Think he might have struggled with the physicality of the Premier League though which probably (hopefully) led us to look at other options.

Think it's a position we urgently need to address this month.

CM and CB are “must buys” in January for me. Then if a decent, experienced striker is available then that would be the icing on the cake. I don’t know if we were ever seriously in for Zlatan but a player like him makes sense. He’s got a great touch and would bring players into play around him. That’s what I think we need.

I proper love that man but we need someone who sits a bit deeper and moves it from defense into attack. We need the creators too but I think that can wait until the summer.

Aye the thing with Ziyech is he's perfectly capable of playing anywhere in midfield.

It's hugely unlikely we'll be in for him but in terms of a genuine world class player who'd suit what we'd need he'd be ideal.

He's played in a 4-3-3 (both central and wide) and a 4-2-3-1 (both central, deep and wide). And he makes stuff happen and has genuine magic.

He isn't really a deep-lying playmaker though.

And he's left footed.

In the replies to that Juventus tweet there's one from Veronica Rabiot. One word. "Amala".

Anybody know what that means? I could hazard a guess like.:)

Amala is often used in colloquial Italian meaning love it or love her (the old lady)? for example amala per sempre = love her for ever. However in this context I would say it simply means "Love it"
