Listen lads this isnt a witch hunt, i dont rate Howard never had fair enough i could be right i could be wrong.

Ive praised him in the past when he has had a good game the six months before the cup final he was outstanding. But i think you have to be fair in analysis, i think very few on here slate players for no reason.

His performences for the past two seasons have been average verging on poor, praticularly this season its seems to be a mistake every game or every other game. He has cost us points and i said today hes a weak link in our team, i beleive he is and we would be further up the table without him.

You only have to look at when some we play other teams how they target parts of Howards game, putting a man on him at set peices knowing he will have a flap, to realise its not just a small few on here that think hes a weak link.

Fair enough Neiler. We had this discussion a few times before and it's probably one of the very few things we don't see eye to eye over. Think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I think he's been a superb goalkeeper for us.

Howard was on a show that recaps all the Action this weekend. It is a Show in the States on Fox Soccer Channel. Howard was on in a phone interview. I wonder if it posted on youtube. I will look for and throw the link in if I find it.

He pretty much said he loves Everton. He is an Evertonian and never wants to leave.

Howard Phone interview on a Soccer TV show in the States after the derby

From 5:23 on they talk about the US National team but the first 5 minutes is all Everton. Can you guys in the UK and elsewhere see this video, sometimes the BBC will not show videos to people in the States?

Seriously, have a word.

How some of you see blunders from Howard is beyond me. He gave us the chance to get the two goals, had he not played brilliantly then wed have been 4 or 5 down at half time. He had to challenge for the pen as there was no defender any where near by.

Howards not exempt from criticism. But, when he deserves credit a lot of you just wont give it. Just cant believe some are questioning him today. He didnt cost us the game he kept us in it. Man of the Match for me, played better than Riena did at the other end.

700% this, could say it no better. Much better than Pepe who had a goal go through his legs. Richard Jolly on ESPN gave Tim man of the match saying much the same:

MAN OF THE MATCH: Tim Howard - Conceded the penalty, but Everton could have been out of sight at the interval but for the acrobatics of the American. Torres, Meireles and Kuyt could all have had further goals but for him.

EDIT: Perhaps you're forgetting that time period right before the half where his end of the pitch was being raided by Liverpool causing some fine saves on his part and I was literally praying (and screaming) for anyone on our defense to CLEAR THE DAMN BALL. I believe the stat was 10 shots on goal coming out of the first 45.

Agreed, all GKs make mistakes, he's served us well over the years and the display today was quality to me. The penalty, in my opinion, was an excusable one as he had to take the matter in his hands.

I always find it interesting when people suggest putting Mucha in when, as far as I've heard, nobody on this forum has seen him play. Moyes obviously knows better than any of us the quality between the two and he's decided to keep Tim in every game, even the cup game.

Howard has saved us MANY more points than he's cost us. He's made some amazing saves this season, just like he does every season and has kept us in many games with them. For me, I would still rather have him between the sticks than any other goalkeeper.

I dont think its a witch hunt at all, just farcical some of you questioning him on what was arguably a man of the match performance. Riena jumped over the ball and it went through his legs, not one of his fans has questioned him, had Tim done the same would it be the same? Id dread if Tim ever farted on the pitch and one of you heard him, that would be a witch hunt then! Poor guy has to be infallible.

Reina also lost his rag and ran miles to remonstrate with the ref, something he does lots and is never questioned. But some think Tim losing his rag is bad? Its what games do to keepers.

Saying he should have held the first shot is silly. He did well to get down and then you have to take into account momentum in these saves. Call me boring or stupid for looking at it like that, but if you think you can just stop as soon as you get your hands on the ball and not move the ball at all, then please prove it? It was an excellent save. If he could have held it then he could have carried it over the line or spilt it at the feet of Kyut for an easy tap in. I hate saying it, but as a keeper I can see these things. Ive been called presumptuous to say only I understand, which I am not trying to say, but people can easily say on here players are crap and give no explanation at all.

Tim played brilliantly yesterday. A keepers game is not just about good saves, there a whole lot more that goes into a whole game for a keeper that peple fail to see, and Tim does it all well.

Calm down. No one is saying he's a poor GK. Some of us are suggesting he needs competition that will make his game better, it's not an insult. There's no sacred cows on a football team. If they're playing badly - be they Arteta/Howard/Jagielka - they should be on the bench. That's how an organisation gets stronger. Howard has been wayward at some points this season and that's why teams have second and third GKs. You're not suggesting Howard should only be replaced as GK when he gets an injury are you? I hope Moyes doesn't think like that.

I will put up with the occasional clanger in return for what he gives us. Plus he's a committed Evertonian now.

I actually think Moyes does.

I wanted to see Mucha in the match against S****horpe and was a bit surprised to see Howard starting that match.

The fact that Moyes sees Mucha everyday in practice, but still plays Howard every match . Shouldn't that tell you something about Mucha?
