Unai Emery

Arsenal are at present arguably as big a basket case as we are.
Emery wanted Zaha, Arsenal would not pay the money for him and then went and paid it for Pepe but only after selling players to pay for him.

I would happily take Emery .
Arsenal's transfer business was nonsense this summer and if Emery was in charge of it that's a serious problem. But if they have someone over him doing the DOF thing and making signings that he has to live with it is hard to blame him for the mess that was made.

The decisive action by both Spurs and Arsenal certainly make the Everton board look like a bunch of ditherers.

Even if they gave the manager a misguided public vote of confidence we could disagree with the decision but at least we would see they still have faith in the managers potential and want to back him.
The total silence makes the board look bad and has garnered sympathy for the manager.

I'm in two minds. I'd take him as he's worked under a DoF before and he'd improve us perhaps we'd not get into the Champions League with him but UEFA is a real possibility. At worst he'd steady the ship (while we go into the new stadium) and give Brands time to search for someone who would take us to the next level.

Fine by me.

Premier League winning coaches are in short supply.

Seemingly, you can become a bad coach overnight. :dodgy:

Short sighted.

Marco Silva would’ve won the title with that City side, probably without having to rely on Steven Gerrard slipping over against another team to do it as well.

Previously I’d have had him in a heartbeat but with everything I’ve seen of Arsenal under Emery I just see lunatic level decisions, an underperforming team and a total inability to change.

We don’t need yet another manager with those hallmarks.

Hard to argue with that.

He was also my pick previously, still a bit tempted to be honest, but he's not done himself any favours at the gunners.

Be interesting to hear what's happened there eventually, when it all leaks out...

Matty, you’re usually a poster who provides insightful perspicacity to the forum. However, on this occasion I feel your ambivalence toward facing cold truths, is somewhat impeding your accurate assessing the reality.
Cognitive dissonance can cripple cognition...don’t be its victim. You are too highly regarded to be a victim

Abit like myself is our Matty

Perhaps you’re right. Perhaps it’s easy to manage good players and hard to manage bad players.

But......apparently, we’ve got a great side and it’s all down to our awful manager that we are where we are.

Hmmmm o_O
