Unai Emery

Emery, Pochettino and Allegri all on the market and we have Silva with Moyes, Hughes and Howe being linked. Sad sad time, small club mentality!!!
Emery has been out of a job 5 minutes. Poch is linked with Bayern and United. Allegri is one of the 5 best managers of the decade. We can have whatever mentality we want reality is we aren't getting the two and the third hasn't been an option yet.

So you're still including 4 average at best players and saying why can't Emery be above average?

Aubameyang and Lacazette are very good but finding a system that suits them is difficult because they're both central strikers. Adding in a RW in Pepe makes it almost impossible to function with all 3. It's a doomed setup from the standpoint of planning out a squad.

It's going to take a magician not a manager to turn this around without significant transfers coming in and out. It sounds like this is a defense of Emery and I don't want it to be because I think he contributed to their problems. But they need a long term plan to rebuild if they want to be where they are aiming.

He bought pepe mate, therefore it is his system.

He has more than enough quality players to avoid the sack, they have been woeful recently.

I can guarantee you a new manager will turn those players you call average back into the players they always were.

I genuinely do not think Everton is a massive job. I’d concede that within English football, it’s a largish one but that’s about it. 35 years of insignificance has consequences...

I think if we had invested the last 5 years money properly n proper players and manager we would quickly establish ourselves back as a big club. It is there waiting to be unearthed but we keep mucking it up

Matty, you’re usually a poster who provides insightful perspicacity to the forum. However, on this occasion I feel your ambivalence toward facing cold truths, is somewhat impeding your accurate assessing the reality.
Cognitive dissonance can cripple cognition...don’t be its victim. You are too highly regarded to be a victim

Next time I have a conversation with someone apart from to myself, I'm going to make sure I get the word perspicacity into a conversation.

What a superb word

Word of the day!

Word of the weekend!!!

When exactly where any of the players who are going back to being what they always were better than average? Because for me the players who in the last few years that made them good aside from the two strikes were guys like Ramsey, Koscielny and Cech who are all gone.

Pre Arsenal I wanted him but I don't think I would now. He doesn't really seem to have much of a plan in terms of moving Arsenal forward from what I've seen, he hasn't really addressed key areas of the squad and it just all seems a bit disjointed.

I suspect the rage over team selections and not buying players in the positions we need them would go into overdrive if we brought him in. The argument of 'he's better than Silva' is pointless as well because that's not a particularly difficult thing to be.

As if people are saying they wouldn’t have Unai frigging Emery at Everton. Mental.

You don’t become a bad manager overnight.

Top quality coach. Just because it didn’t work out at Arsenal, doesn’t mean it won’t elsewhere.

We’re holding out for Pellegrini who’s a top manager and will be available soon.

Arsenal are at present arguably as big a basket case as we are.
Emery wanted Zaha, Arsenal would not pay the money for him and then went and paid it for Pepe but only after selling players to pay for him.

I would happily take Emery .
