Rafael and the small club comment

He had a go at most clubs because that's what football managers tend to do

He's not going to come here if he thinks it's a "small club" when he's got China money

Again, I'm sure it'll come up in his first presser and he'll kill it dead with an apology or a "Everton are a sleeping giant and I'm going to make them big again" spiel

Yep, I said as much about making comments and the like in my other post. What I meant to ask was, didn't have a pop at Chelsea then went there to manage them. I think he said something about the fans waving plastic flags or something.

With some of the absolutely terrifying names that are flying around i would definitely be tempted to give Benitez a chance. Rafael or Moyes, Howe or Hughes. No brainer for me really. Not that he would want to come here anyway mind.

If someone said to you, Rafael will be your manager and under him you will win the League Cup this season would you take it, feelings of his past, comments, Liverpool connection, weight aside. I'm pretty sure 99% of us would

People make comments in every day life and sometimes it comes back to bite you. When I was growing up we signed Peter Beardsley, a wonderful player. No one cared he came from Liverpool.

If its about the fact he had managed them - would people feel the same if we got Brendan Rodgers?

Another example of our fans dismissing a manager who's a billion times better then anyone we've even been linked with in forever. Yeah he's rubbish isn't he lads, all them trophies he won at Valencia, the RS, Chelsea and Napoli where just flukes weren't they!
Totally agree. We must be the only team in the premier League with supporters who think like this. Arsenal supporters would take Poch in a heartbeat. No wonder they call us bitter.

yer but if you told us if we hired bon jovi and he would win the league cup this season I'd be on board with that as well?

I don't get your point?

In an ideal world I would have someone else in but things are far from ideal and I don't see anyone else with a CV anywhere near as good as his that we could potentially approach expecting a favourable answer.

If he is available and interested, then it would be negligent on our part not to pursue him. His past comments are of no relevance.

There is no argument to be put forward opposing him when you look at the alternatives.

Nearly 13 years down the line people still bang on about his 'small club' comment. Christ, I hear worse than that on a daily basis from all the armchair reds in work. So much for 'we don't care what the RS say'.

Anyone whose still offended by his jibe but have slagged off LFC at any point are little more than hypocrites.

Is he an upgrade on the current incumbent? Absolutely. I'd have Benitez here in a heartbeat and at least he isn't David effing Moyes.
You've changed my mind.
I think he's definitely an upgrade

Articles just this weekend saying Arsenal’s board have ruled out Pochettino due to his spurs connections... and Poch was never even close to as disrespectful as Benitez was about us.

Allardyce and Lee would seem a popular choice by comparison.
Seriously how long does anybody think this fat beaut would survive here?
Given his declared love for the RS do you think he would risk the hatred Lee received from the scum following his arrival here?

If it's a straight choice between Moyes, Hughes or benitez it can only be benitez. Unless we can bring in someone with a better track record than him then the old saying beggars can't be choosers applies. It might not be popular but I only care about us winning games and I reckon we would win more with him than any of the present linked names.
