Take A Bow, David Moyes!

Which is what we've always said and what a lot have pointed out from the start of the seasn.

Be less stubborn, use your squad and play players that will work against the opposition rather than the favorites.

Even players like Heitinga...who looked at home at the back, was up for it. Yak should've buried a golden chance. Saha was reborn.

These players are meant to be off and worthless - tonight showed they're still got it and have the class if used right.

Said it in the match thread, our link up play, passing and movement from front to back flowed and looked better, sadly, without Cahill. But like i've always said...depending on the opposition - he's useful.

Its all down to how we go on from here. But if it keeps up like this....I dont think we need loans.

this!!!

our squad can kick ass!!

and as ive said lots of times it wasnt money that made us loose against stoke, wba, newcastle it was tatics/team spirit!

still lots of questions to be answered but DID VERY WELL TONIGHT!!!!!

WE HAVE OUR TEAM SPIRIT/FIGHT BACK LONG MAY IT STAY!!!!

I have to agree with this. I've said it numerous times. As much as I love Cahill, he dictates formation when he's in the lineup. It's a real quandry because he's absolutely class. Maybe he just shouldn't always be the first name on the team sheet, depending on the opposition as you say.

Sorry if that came across as "I told you so" I didn't mean it! I'm just so bloody happy seeing Everton playing football again.

How feckin' good was Seamus Coleman! Seriously, made Bale look like Naysmith on a bender!

No need, I've agreed with a lot of what you say and I've said it myself.

Boils down to...Moyes will hammer home 1 system of playing for beards...something will happen where he has to change it, and it works. But he should be doing this earlier and experimenting more, reading the games, and having faith in his players at the start of the season rather than mid-way through.

We all know we have class in the side.

Saha was a big surprise for me. I've defended him for a while but then he went a bit indefenseable...untill tonight where he was awesome. And in the box...and shooting from outside the box....

A world cup finalist centre back, playing- centre back!

A near player of the season holding midfielder, playing- holding midfield!

A striker that needs a second striker- playing, with a 2nd striker!

HOORAY!!!

Great result Mr Moyes got it spot on to night and so did the players, enjoy while we can. COYB

I think KB we are all pulling our hair out why it took so long to be a bit more objective.

I never took it personally to be fair....I just probably wanted more objective points of view of things - bit more level headedness like you say.

Not a game of points scoring or "I told you so" like Tubey says - just sensible football chat over the beloved side we all know has the talent.

More of the same at Analfield please. I'm sure Konchesky can't wait to face Coleman and Lucas is looking forward to a game against Fellaini.

I have beaten this drum for some time that the players we have are good enough.

i was thinking around the 70th minute mark that even if we didn't get the win, moyes could hardly be blamed because his tactics were spot on.

i don't think we owe the change in form entirely to the 4-4-2 though. fellaini had more space than he usually does to work, partially because our midfield was less cluttered. when rodwell and fellaini both play in midfield, i think it detracts from both of their play, they tend to pass to one another without really advancing the ball.

arteta started out playing as he has typically all season, but around the 21st minute he really came alive. i hope he keeps it up, he's still not back to top form but i thought he played well today. i'm not sure if this is due to the space in front of him that opened up without cahill there.

i think that we owe the teams renewed spirit that earned us the result as much to the fact that the players worked harder today in cahills absence as we do to the new formation. everyone really put a shift in, and even at the times when we were leading, we remained positive. i expected a delay similar to what we did against city once we snatched the lead at the end, but we put several shots on goal after that and would have doubled the lead were it not for a dawson handball.

also, as good as pienaar and baines were today, anyone think neville and coleman are developing similar chemistry. coleman is excellent at finding space and getting the ball into good positions, but his delivery on crosses and passes is pretty average. once coleman would advance the ball to a good position, neville often stood there as an outlet, and put the ball where it needed to be. great teamwork from the two of them.

The only reason I didn't start this thread in the 70th minute was because I didn't want to jinx the result :D Completely right; it's the performance that is the great thing in the long run, not just the three points today.

As I've said in the past, I don't mindlessly criticise Moyes. When he gets it right, I'll say so. We could have lost tonight and I still would have applauded the performance. This was a 2-1 win with a solid performance - the City game... not so much.

Moyes literally did everything correct today. The subs were right, the starting eleven, the tempo... everything.

Very, very well done. Glad to see the ginger isn't as stubborn as I thought!

I agree. I would just hope that he plays with Bilya instead of Pienar. But yes kudos to Moyes for getting selection and tactics spot on.
