Didn't he play in the African cup of nations? If so you would imagine he would be ahead of a lot of players in fitness because he's played in competitive games.

Surely he would have been training with Arsenal this past few weeks?

Was part of Nigeria's team in Africa Cup so got extra days off and the transfer happened, will start training next week and will need at least couple of weeks to be ready

He’ll have needed a period of rest and as such you’d expect he would need to regain his fitness and match sharpness.

I know for a fact that only last weekend he was out in Ibiza doing the usual young lad stuff: getting bladdered and shooting a champagne gun etc.

Yeah, a lad I used to work with helps run some Everton sites, gets his info from within the club.
His team is usually spot on, always throws it on FB a few hours before kick off.

Just confirmed it’s 100% the team that starts.

We generally draw the first game of the season, but you have to go back to 2011 when we were last beaten first game (QPR at home for shame).
