Confirmed Signing Alex Iwobi

....adding goals is so much about getting into goalscoring positions. It involves ridiculously hard work (Frank Lampard) and/or ability to be in the right place at the right time (Richarlison).

Bernard has wonderful technique and composure but for some reason that fails him when in threatening positions. From what i’ve seen, Iwobi is a decent striker of the ball so if he can be told to repeatedly ‘hit the box’, especially when the ball is on the other side of the pitch, he will up his goalscoring rate.

I know Walcott is not a favourite, but he’s another who does get himself in threatening positions.

Agree mate.

Silva saying he'll demand more goals from Iwobi is telling.

We need it from those positions, we can't rely on Kean if we want to compete.

From Silva's comments, it sounds like he'll be that competition for Bernard (and Sigurdsson?).

I presume you have better sources than Joyce then

I never said what Joyce put is wrong, just what you've put is wrong.

Plenty of very sauces people have said we were still after zaha and negotiating for him up untill the last day. we only put one official bid in for him.

Or like I said do you think zaha just threw in a transfer request for a laugh?

I'm thinking Brands will be finding attributes that fit a style. Iwobi has a good energy about him/wins the ball in the final third well.

Some players (Pienaar as a quick example Ajax great, Dortmund terrible, Everton great, Spurs.... ) just fit into an environment and style.

Hopefully Iwobi can do the business here, but like Silva has just said, he has to do more in front of goal/score more goals. If he's scoring 3 in the league last season for Arsenal, what can we expect from him here?

It's a fair assumption the lad wasn't a priority target, hopefully we've not just brought him in as a "we had to get someone"

Aye.

Obviously we've covered it up by saying he was a long-term target (and maybe he was on the list, he probably was) but it's clear Zaha was targeted because he regularly gets 9-10 at least - basically guarantees goals. Iwobi doesn't, but he does have the potential to do so.

Yep, and they got to SFs and played a third-place play-off. Will have only returned to training either this week or late last week, I'd have thought.

Basically, he won't be fit.
You know if he played much and how he did ? Ahead f Henry if he did
