Pienaar over-rated?

Player Valuation: £150k
Nice win v Man City and without Pienaar who was also missing for the wins v Birmingham and Liverpool.
And he has played in ALL of our defeats this season.
Is he over-rated????.

He did play in the win v Stoke though, well done Steven. Proving all your worth there.

While Pienaar has been missing for 3 of our 4 wins, Leon Osman has played in 3 of our 4 wins.

Granted, Pienaar links well with Baines and does a lot of running (which to some fans seems to be enough ala Andy Johnson) but if Pienaar is dithering about signing we should cash in and sell him in January.

I don't think he's over-rated at all.

But it's good to know that when he's out, we have other players that can step up. That said, I don't want him leaving. I'd love for him to sign up a few more years.

Its a squad game, we shouldn't be letting anybody go, and Pienaar most definately is one of our better players.
Christ, before Osman got injured, he was the scapegoat, and that was while Pienaar was in the team. Nuts.

He may not be irreplaceable, as we've come to think at times, but I don't think he's overrated.
He provides a different dimension than the other midfielders in the squad. I really hope he stays. But if not, so be it.

I wonder how many games we won last season when Pienaar was out and Bilya played?

No, he is a fantastic little player and will be sorely missed. Stevie has technical ability most of the MF don't have, he is quick and nimble and can turn a game on it's head, i can't think of any other players like him.

Mikky - hit and miss for about 12 months
Felli - a purple patch before his injury, extremely promising.
Osman - workman like, little end result, not enough goals.
Rodwell, commanding and powerful - again, not enough goals.
Bily - < ...... >
Stevie, skillful, provides assists, scores a couple, quick and always up for it.

The one who scores goals, has ranged passing and a quick footballing brain - all he needs is the manager's support which he is not getting. Thought he did brilliantly when he came on.

Don't think he is over rated. He is a great player. Yeah, I would go with great. He and Leighton compliment each other. Baines seems to do most of the work, but its almost as Pienaar's little touches, or nice layoffs go unnoticed at times. He makes it easier for Leighton I think.

However, I don't think it will be the end of the world if he goes. Interesting point about him and his losing stats, remember when Bale hadn't won in his first 25 games for Spurs was it? He's defo not over rated =)

I have a feeling Moyes has given Bily a break, based on the Pienaar situation. Don't think they really play the same role, but whilst we definitely have Stevie P, Moyes is gonna use him. Then maybe a fully fit and fresh Bily may start getting a game?

One thing that Pienaar definitely doesn't do, is score enough. But I think he deserves the plaudits he gets

Yeah, spot on - i reserve judgment until the lad gets a long, decent run in the side, he is a bit like Felli was in the first season or so, a bit slow to settle and find his place in the side, 7 goals in his first season says not a bad return.

He doesn't really have a striker to work with. I always thought he worked well with Yak that is until Yak's 74th birthday.

It does show you that Leon's a good player. It's pleasant when you see players working for each other and knowing when to close down because of their football brain.

He hit a phenomenal peak at times last season.

Makes the midfield tick with this speed but he just doesn't do enough in and around the box for me, which is odd because in his first season he set up like, 14 goals was it?

Has not gone yet and I have not seen any more rumours of other clubs chasing for him, gone very quiet. He is a talented player and would be missed but is not indispensable.

Over rated - No. Should we cash in on him in the transfer window? It would make sense to get a decent sum of money for a player who cost peanuts. As long as Moyes got the money to spend on a proven replacement.

Best result would be for him to sign the dotted line and put us out of our misery.
