People need to realise it’s not as simple as saying “hi here’s £40m to you and here’s £120,000 per week to you”.
Good point.

The thing is they are under no pressure from their fans. They've just done the domestic treble and would have, IMO, also won the Champions League but for a disallowed goal. They already have a fantastic team so they can afford to wait to bring in the players they have identified.

Everton, and Brands in particular, don't have that luxury.

Due to the eyewatering sums involved these days it is akin to one of us buying a mansion.

Lots of entourages, agents involved.
Sponsors of the player have to have agreement too.

The insurance policies against injuries or behaviour outside of the field of play.

We are no longer dealing with footballers.
They are now individual brands working as a collective for another big business brand.
