If we do get him, I cant see it being far off that price myself.

In a window in which Harry Maguire is going for 80m and Lewis Dunk for 45m, how much do people honestly think a title winning 24 year old CB is gonna fetch?
Homegrown and English tax on those 2

I still wouldn't go above £30m, I'd say neither of those two have gone for those prices, they're still rumours and asking prices. I'd say we bought gomes for £22m and he's a better player so why should we pay less for someone who is also not wanted but at a worse team.

Granted, chelsea may slam the door shut then after I've slagged them off, but they've just lost out on £30m for someone who nobody else is interested in and doesn't feature in their plans.

Let's be honest, he played well for a few months, he was just ok for the first 3/4rs of his time here and his year at Stoke. He's been ok much more constantly than he's been very good.
Gomes was actually not wanted at Barcelona though, as in they had absolutely desire to keep him whatsoever, and really needed to raise funds. Chelsea may be quite happy to keep Zouma and use him, but able to be persuaded to sell. That's a completely different situation. Personally I also thought Zouma was a more important signing than Gomes after last season.

The 'English Tax' relates to buying from English teams, because the TV deal here means that teams don't need to sell, and everybody knows they're cash rich. It would therefore apply to Zouma. It's why Richarlison and Sigurdsson etc cost as much as they did.

Fabian Delph has not been signed as a replacement for the in-demand Idrissa Gueye.
Marco Silva has confirmed that should the Blues lose the all-action Gueye then they would focus on signing a player to fill the void.

However Delph, who joined Everton from Manchester City on Monday in a deal worth an initial £8.5m, has not been recruited as a substitute for Gueye.

Silva says the 29-year-old will offer “different solutions” and though Delph can play in defensive midfield he has not been brought to the club in anticipation that Gueye will leave.

Silva explained: “For me he is a box-to-box player and Fabian performs better when he is a box-to-box player.

“Of course, he can play as one of the two midfielders with an offensive midfield player, the role we are giving to Gylfi and one that Bernard and Tom can also play there and even Andre because he did in Valencia, and so Fabian can play in that role in our 4-2-3-1 formation we played last season.

“He can also play as an offensive midfielder and can give us more opportunities than we had last season.

42m....not a chance on this earth that we are paying that...

I think that is a joke tweet, but the prices of players seems to be kicking up another £10m, people are looking at the Harry McGuire transfer of £80m and the Lewis Dunk for £45m, and that could affect the asking price for Zouma. It makes the Gomes deal seem insanely cheap!

My head is now off in dream land, imagining were buying Leao and Kean for a combined £60m. Its not too much of a stretch is it? Both unbelievably young, and could double in value from just one good season. I need a cold shower, or a slap to sort my head out.

I suppose there are some who think we might spend £60m on Pepe
