Look I know there are lots of fans of both clubs who are adamantly against this, but there's not doubt in my mind it makes financial sense for both clubs to put a new 60k stadium in the city center and at the end of the day would be good for the city of Liverpool. Put a Hall of fame for both clubs at either end of the ground.

My question for those opposed is, would you stop going to the games if this scenario came to fruition just because the other side have it every other week?

Of course it makes the most financial sense, and is the most sensible option for both clubs. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. I just don't ever see it happening because both sets of fans in majority will fiercely oppose it.

I haven't thought about IF it did happen. I guess it would come to me when that time came.

Capacity is a sticky subject for me. Too many seats and Monday night kick offs could be a ghost town atmosphere even when there is 35,000 there, which is just below our average now. I'm open to ideas though.

We back on the night shift Judy?

I have a feeling, most people who live in Liverpool will be against the idea, where perhaps it seems a good idea to people outside the City a bit more? Maybe, maybe not?

I am not dead against it by a long way, but it would take some persuading to get my vote. There's nothing better than a trip to the Home of Everton

Good points. Let me ask this though...would attendance increase if Everton played in a brand new stadium with all the luxuries, better sightlines, and easier to get to (via improved location, parking, mass transit, etc.)? Or is 35-40k the max that Everton can draw? Or are there enough Everton fans out there that WOULD come to the games, but DON't for the reasons I just stated?

Good point...bearing in mind I've just said there is nothing better than the Trip to Goodison, I'm trying to remember ever being able to see both goals, or not sitting on a wooden seat etc etc, but I think that just adds to the atmosphere in some strange way.

However, my cousin and I always said, the year we get a new Stadium, is the year we finally get a Season Ticket........so there's 2 extra =)

I have a feeling in the year 2010 (almost 2011) that staying home and watching the game on a big screen HD TV is more appealing to plenty of folks than sitting in the elements, with an obstructed view, poor concessions, no corporate hospitality, and difficult access to/from.

You're right though that older stadiums are special in their own way, but lots of folks romanticize them from the comfort of their couch, but can't actually be bothered to go.

That's it, I live 100 miles away, it's not something I can just get up and do too easily, without some kind of thought. I love it when we're on TV for that reason alone. However a nice new stadium does sound more likely to get my money, but a groundshare would be a toughie

What's a Siamese stadium? Are there any? And what that a serious comment =)

The reason I bring up the groundshare issue is:

1) Reading the thread in the world football forum about the new RS owners and how they are open to a groundshare. Now I'm pretty sure they've been told at some point that the fans would be against it, so why bring it up again? Makes me wonder.
2) We're not getting a new stadium anytime soon on our own. Without significantly raising our matchday revenues, it will become more and more difficult to compete financially (it's already hard). Oh and we'll never get an offer that makes BK and the board sell, so for all of you Kenwrongers, you should be praying for a new stadium.

YES .

Close Thread .

The RS new owners seem waaaaaaay more sensible than any of their previous owners. They're more business minded about everything rather than what their fans think.

They've come out and said financially it makes perfect sense - to the disgust of the RS and some Evertonians. But if it were going to happen, their new owners will take steps to make it happen.
