I've referenced this article and the first interview he gave with the echo. Gana fits in the system well and so does Sigurdsson. Gana is more versatile, but I think he's best with a proper 6 to free him up to wreck havoc. Schneiderlin is our best, but he's overpaid and not great. Would live to replace him.

Gana doesnt fit the profile of his Echo interview, from memory he said he wanted somebody with a passing range like Willy C, a sitter who sprays the ball everywhere, that is defo not Gana, but yes it is Snides and its certainly Gomes.

Gomes definitely isn't a sitter. But what he described was 2 variants, one with a sitter - and he called out Schneiderlin by name - Gana would play in front of that player or in Silva's other variant with twin destroyers.

Getting a bit catty in here, lads...

Gueye’s value isn’t about to diminish completely because he’s heading for 30 but it will depreciate far more quickly after that point than in years past; his importance to the team in the last couple of seasons is there for all to see, but so is the fact that we finally adapted to Marco’s style of play late in the season and got some cracking results.

If the team’s style can be adapted to include different types of midfielders (more athletic, box to box types) then he becomes expendable and cashing in before his value nosedives should be a priority; if we desperately need a destroyer then his value is immaterial and he stays until his ability no longer suits us.

I love him, but I hope we are building towards a system that alleviates reliance on individuals and putting together a squad that can compete on a couple of fronts, therefore in a funny kind of way I want us to cash in. I have the same fear as most others about us crumbling defensively without him, but that’s the risk we have to take if we come to that decision. If he stays, we keep hold of one of the best defensive midfielders in the league, if not Europe.

Tl:dr: Whatevs.

This for me, like him - he does a cracking job, but we can push on. The midfield has been poor for a number of years as a unit. It’s better than it has been for a while, but it can be made even better. If Marco/Brands want him he stays, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes.

'whether the weather is hot, whether the weather is cold.

Is that a tear in your I? He will replace Gueye'

This is very concerning as it's very clear to me what he means.
If the weather is hot or cold, you won’t care as long as you’ve got good HVAC. Rearrange those letters and you get CHAV. Add the I from “tear in your I” and you get CHAVI.

We’re signing Xavi. It’s clear as day.

Besic to fulham for 5m, hopefully

Would be great that. Taking sentiment out of things, to get him off the wage bill let alone with a fee would be great business.

I thought Boro played clever last year with him, indicating they wanted to sign him permanently but happy for talks to break down over his wages knowing they could still get him on loan.

To be fair from what I read his Agent demanded 5m signing on fee, hardly their fault.
