But if Delph was already our player, nearing 30, injury prone and bang average, we’d all be throwing him in that long list of tripe to get rid off.

He’s not gonna come here for peanuts, and at a time when we have such a bloated squad full of his type of averageness that we’re desperately trying to bin off, it makes absolutely no sense.

Can’t get my head around the link at all.
That just about sums it up perfectly.. case closed.. let's stop talking about Delph.

Perhaps we should bring in England international Welbeck as well. We do need a striker like!
Well, welbeck isn’t a current international nor did he win any trophies last season but... let’s get this clear, we’re not above signing him either. I actually wouldn’t see any rationale in signing welbeck because he’s just another hardworking, decent footballer who doesn’t score, and we’ve got plenty of them already do he doesn’t really solve any problems. If we didn’t already have Calvert Lewin though, I wouldn’t have been surprised to see us move for him. They’re not fashionable but these are decent players, not championship level plodders. They’re nobody’s dream signings but they’re Top half premier league players, easily. If they’re your squad players you’re doing alright.

Bizarre to even have to say this, but this buying model you’re all on about just doesn’t exist. It’s a figment of your imaginations. We have never ever claimed that we’d only be buying players under 21, and our signings under brands haven’t all been with a long term view. 2 players on loan with no option to buy and lossl on board at 30 should be enough to tell you that brands isn’t all about signing players who will be boss in 5 years and quadruple in value, no matter how much some of you wannabe scouts want him to be. The club has to balance short term benefits with long term growth, if there are players out there who they believe will help us get where we want to be then they should - and will - sign them.
Firstly, Brand’s signing goals is to sign players who are 26 and under not 21 and under.

Secondly, who are our 2 loans you are referring to because if it’s Zouma and Gomes? One is already here and the other could have been with us too easily if he wanted. But he doesn’t want to and wants to take his chances at a crowded Chelsea with a new coach.

Thirdly, Lossl was signed as a back up goalie on a free transfer at 30 so we could loan Virginia out and prep for losing Stek. Keepers play well into their 30s now so to think Lossl is a deadbeat signing is ridiculous.

Lastly, Brands has made it quite clear that he does everything in a meticulous and well thought out manner when going about his business. Brands had 4 months last season to assess our current squad, identify our insufficiencies, provide potential replacements, and finalized the signings. Nothing Brands does or says points to him not thinking 5-10 years down the line. We were in a pinch last season with time and needed signings so loans were the quickest option and curious how he brought in 2 young loanees who had a good chance of both being available this summer. All his signings, loans, and free transfers have been largely successful since he start with the only one not totally proving his worth to the team was Mina who was injured the whole season and even when he wasn’t injured he was very solid. Mina, even though injured, did his bit off the pitch though being a model player and proving that he is a toffee through and through.

Complete waste of time writing that mate because you’ve totally misunderstood my point.

I’m not calling anyone deadbeats or trying to talk brands down, quite the opposite. I’m saying he’s not stupid, Nor is he obsessed with players being under 26 (which is a truly bizarre cut off point seemingly plucked out of nowhere other than his first few signings being that age). I trust brands, and I think the signings of lossl and Delph would be shrewd moves in the right circumstances. He’s here to sign players to make us better, and 29 year olds can still do that in my incredibly controversial opinion.

Hell.

You supporting Everton here or do you think this is West Brom? Let’s at least have a shred of ambition.

Saying that we aren’t beyond signing Delph or Welbeck is completely mind boggling.

Who gives a flying f- if they won 3 medals? How many times did he touch the ball to provide anything towards obtaining those medals?

Mangala also got those same 3 medals but I don’t see you stating that we should sign him.

Gomes is a Tavares I see. Interesting.

Manuel Henrique Tavares Fernandes is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Russian club FC Lokomotiv Moscow as a midfielder. He started his professional career with Benfica at only 18, then went on to compete in England and Spain, mainly at the service of Everton and Valencia.

Getting lectured on how to support my club by someone who’s never been to a game. Amazing scenes.

Thought a bedroom super scout like you would have known mangala won none of those trophies because he didn’t play but maybe I gave you too much credit.

Again, nobody thinks welbeck and delph would be amazing signings, least of all me. As I’m already on record saying, if delph is supposed to be like a ‘big’ signing I’ll be furious. If he’s coming in alongside the likes of Zouma, neres/Malcom, Kean etc then he’s a really good signing, a definite strengthening of the squad.

I'm not sure on this at all. Nobody is saying this about Gana for example. The key question as with any signing will be whether the manager can get a tune out of him. If he does and it's a small fee it could be a good buy.

I don't know what it says for Davies, Gana and Williams though.
