It's entirley consistent with the carpetbagger's M.O.

I thought Brands was hired so loose cannon Farhad couldn't do these things anymore? He's still back seat driving.

Or just perhaps we actually tried to sign him? His agent gave us a bit of encouragement and entered into early negotiations, in the main to be able to use us to increase his earnings elsewhere a la Witsel. During those negotiations Moshiri let slip to White or A. N. Other that there are ongoing positive discussions.

He can be blamed of naivety thinking that these players would come here but unless you are part of the inner circle at the club you can't say he hasn't tried to sign them.

Either way, the protocol is breached though. It undermines Brands.
