I wonder if fans of Shakthar think why thier players opting out of champions league footy for a midtable prem team that are never a no where near champions league. Either money or hopefully they are hoping the prem exposure gets them a move to a bigger club.

Disagree strongly. When you're as good at everything else as he is you'll get by comfortably.

Agree he needs to improve in the box though. I don't get the impression he's a lethal finisher at the best of times, so I don't think he'll ever be bagging 10+ unfortunately, but we're going to be asking a huge amount of Sigurdsson, Richarlison and the striker to get us top 6 goals if he doesn't get/create a good few more.
Works hard, decent buildup, not that creative and doesn't score goals. Why is he better than Will Hughes or Matt Ritchie?

Are you for real????
Yeah. I am willing to be proven wrong here but to me Bernard looks like the kind of winger you want when all you need at of your winger is for him to not make mistakes and come up with a moment of brilliance one in every 8 to 10 games. That is what he was last season. Basically the classic mid table player. And I don't think we should be happy with someone playing 2000 plus minutes in that position and producing 1 goal and 4 assists unless we want to spend the next decade at the same level we spent this one.

How many times did he start the move or was crucial to making something happen? Who should we replace him with?

It's hard to say what "crucial to making it happen" means. Like he was involved in the counter attacks that led to Sigurdsson's goal vs United and Richarlison's vs Brighton but did he do something that a large amount of wingers couldn't have done? I'd say no he played a simple pass and our better players made something happen. There's a video posted on here of all his "moments" from the season. Go and watch it and pay attention to where on the field most of the stuff he does happens. Almost the whole video is 40 yards or more from goal. There are barely any touches or passes into the box. This is a problem for a forward.

As for the who should he be replaced with I've argued and will continue to argue that I'd rather sacrifice a bit of work rate and midfield link up for the in and around the box ability of Lookman and possibly Onyekuru. But basically any other winger we've been tentatively linked with, Malcom, Neres, Under or whoever else, would probably be an improvement.

And as I said I'd be happy to be proved wrong and for him to be a player that suddenly is capable of being a constant threat. But I just didn't even see that many glimpses last year. His best ability in attack was setting up Digne which is more about how good Digne was at movement and crossing than Bernard being some kind of brilliant attacker.

His height is a problem as he’s not going to win your aerial duels. A couple of times Pickford nearly killed him by lumping the ball down the pitch and having him go up for a header against the likes of Dunk or Sakho.

But I’m a Bernard guy nonetheless.

Just out of interest what have Lookman or someone who has never and still cannot play for the club done to suggest they are any better than Bernard?

Bernard is a good outlet and a tricky player. Makes us tick at times and relieves pressure with working back and holding on to the ball. Like the oil in the engine he keeps us running smoothly. Very clever and important player. Yes a couple of more goals wouldn't go amiss but we never dropped Piennaar for lack of goals.
