Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

BOLTON PICK UP LONG AWAITED WIN

swansea result.webp

A much needed win to give Bolton Wanderers a boost in their bid for Championship survival. Swansea City came to Bolton three points cleae of The Trotters and looked the side more likely to take the lead. Bolton defended very well with Bellusci, Osede and Gibson all contributing together to keep the ball away from danger. Ben Amos really called into action with the majority of the Swansea shots being off target. Erhun Oztumer was back in his favoured no.10 role playing behind on-loan striker Joao Pedro and the playmaker was on top form creating chances for team-mates but no goals seemed on the agenda. It got to late on in the game when winger Sean Robertson saw Oztumer making a run through the Swansea back line and played a cut throat ball right into his path taking two Swansea defenders out the game. Oztumer was unlikely to miss and belted the ball into the back of the net. Bolton fans looked on in disbelief as their side had taken a rare lead. Ferguson decided to start to keep things tight and adopted a no nonsense approach, Oztumer dropping deeper in midfield playing as a three with Batty and Docherty. Swansea upped the pressure but a superb defensive display from Bolton managed to be enough to give Wanderers a hard fought victory. The fans, relieved at the final whistle sang their hearts out for the eleven out on the field. Choruses of 'Bolton til I die; brought a smile to players faces who rallied the 16000 in attendance.

DF: Pleased to get the win and to show we are not done yet. It was nail biting but we dug in deep and pulled out a very good performance. One game at a time, that's all we are going to do. Our aim is to make this a hard place for teams to come, Swansea hammered us at times but we coped well with it.

Bolton have a tough away fixture to Leeds United coming up. The last time these two sides met it ended in a 1-1 draw with Sean Robertson getting on the scoresheet.

PREMIER LEAGUE UPDATE OCTOBER 2023

premiership table oct 2023.webp

Everton sit at the top of the Premier League after 11 games in the 2023/24 campaign. Manager Massimo Carrera building on last season's F.A. Cup triumph, now causing a shake up in the Premier Division. Nikola Vlasic being one of the better players so far this season operating on the left flank scoring 7 goals in 7 games. Centre Forward Steve Franke who signed from Dortmund last season for £2.5m is leading the line getting 3 goals and 4 assists so far in the campaign. It is all to play for with six points separating the top six at this early stage of the season.

FYLDE HANDED A THRASHING BY SCUNTHORPE UNITED

Joey Barton could be coming to the end of his managerial reign at Mill Farm after an embarrassing defeat away at Scunthorpe. Notts County up next for Fylde and it is anticipated that the home crowd could turn nasty. Fylde 17th in the table whilst Notts County currently hold 2nd. Can Barton handle the pressure and extend his stay for a further week?

Flyde fans are set to stage protests if Harry Kewell is given the promotion to first team manager. Kewell who is in charge of youth development has been put in temporary charge but the Fylde faithful state Kewell is not good enough and should not be considered for the vacancy.
Too right mate. Kewell ain’t cool. Andy impey is the man

I’m pro Barton JS. Hear he smokes a cigar during his half time team talk to put the fear of [Poor language removed] into the players.

Enough was enough JJ, he’d had the vote of confidence from Haythornthwaite

We could all see it coming.

He can jog on and stick that half time cigar where the sun don’t shine.

Simeone in.

To the tune of hi ho silver from Jim Diamond (all 11 of us were singing this when he scored)

Erhun Oztumer, he's gonna cause danger
He has got into the swing
And loves Burger King
