ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The one thing i'll give them credit for is they seem to have a spirit and determination which has been missing from their calamitous collection of signings for the past 10 years, and the breathless pace they place at is something to admire. Something i honestly wish we had, the pedestrian pace we played at sometimes last year was like watching blind footballers.

However, never underestimate their ability to implode.

The drugs are great these days. Their football has been crap since about February culminating in the CL final where the barely put a midfield pass together. Don’t let that get in the way of media eulogies about flowing football. They punt it front to back and play for set pieces more than anyone in the league.

I avoid watching them and have done for years but I watched the final and honestly, I never realised how basic their football actually is. They’ve basically got Mane and Salah as centre forwards with Firmino at number 10, and their only tactic is to play golf shots over the top to get defenders running back towards their own goal while being harassed by the fast lads in the hope they’ll panic and make a mistake. I couldn’t believe it. Even more mental that it’s proven to be one of the most effective tactics ever in football.

All you need is to have two whippets up front and be dead fit and you can do anything in football. Fair play like, they’ve absolutely mastered it.

They’ve definitely trained in where exactly on the pitch to punt it to, and also how to go into 50-50 challenges to get deflections to go the way you want them to, how to draw corners from defenders. They do a lot of odd stuff that you don’t see many teams doing like playing a long ball forward but having no intention of competing in the air for it, just niggling the defender instead so they mess up the clearance which they can then pick up. They also hit crosses from weird places that have no hope of going anywhere but they get corners from them. It ultimately works though, that’s how they got both goals in the CL final when it looked as though they could barely put a pass together.

They’ve absolutely mastered kick and rush, but they can’t claim they’re playing anything like the sort of football City are playing, or United at their best, or Wenger’s best Arsenal. It’s more akin to Ranieri’s Leicester, sit deep, play it back to front and be strong on set pieces.

Remember when they complained about the pitch at City not helping their passing game...... They are the old Wimbledon but with top class strikers. There's no way they'd win anything with that midfield otherwise.

They done exactly the same tactic with Suarez and Sturridge, before them, only they played the SS on each wing and pinged long diagonals by them, which of course then was classed as long passes.

Ten days and they’re still riding round with the cheap flags. They want to know why no one likes them. Well try this. Bike driving round with flags, engine running, parked (illegally) in disabled parking bay. The triple whammy of arrogant entitlement. Four plus Two you Kopite Biff (two by the hand of the refs)

And now I see they are all getting hard ons praising the Egyptian King for catching two large fish

They've installed fabino in there now to a) stop opponents with continuous tactical fouling and b) add an extra layer of defence at the back to prevent the potential for van dyke to be made a mug of.

The other midfield players consists of 2 of a number of water carriers.

This type of midfield set up lacks thrust and trickery and can soon grow stale.
