One of my very first posts was about just this. I likened it to watching a blood brother and a step brother having a fight, and hoping the blood brother won, but not at the expense of serious damage to the step brother.

In football world, I would never want Bristol City to beat Everton, (cant remember them ever doing so anyrate), but I would accept a Bristol City win if the result meant the world to them, (not being relegated/winning the league lol) BUT did not affect Everton in any way at all.

Think I'd be happy either way, although it would probably be in a European competion. As my locals wouldn't have a chance in hell to win that cup, I'd most likely settle for a nice game, cheer both teams on and enjoy myself with the occasion and be that bit more satisfied with an Everton win, looking at the grand scheme of it. Would be 100% Everton again after the match. If it was a friendly, all of the above, but wouldn't care about the outcome one yot.
