I did see that. That's interesting, I didn't realize that. I did see something where the Examiner had him leading their player ratings early, but seems like he dropped considerably by the end of the year. I cannot imagine watching enough Huddersfield matches to formulate that great an opinion of the guy, though. That would be brutal.

You couldn’t watch Huddersfield but you seem to watch the French U12 league and various others to gain an opinion on every other player ever mentioned ? :)

Everton are trying to land a left-footed winger this summer who can operate on the right hand side.

And so even though Bournemouth’s right-footed Ryan Fraser has admirers at Goodison, and has been linked with the Blues this summer, Marco Silva is keen to add balance to his wide option with a left footed recruit if possible.

Fraser, like Rafael Leao , will remain as a player on the radar but other targets are being pursued at this stage.

Everton are in the market for a right-back this summer and have scouted Reece James on a number of occasions during the season.

The young Chelsea defender spent the campaign on loan with Wigan Athletic and played a huge part in keeping Paul Cook’s side up.

Everton watched him at the DW Stadium several times but have remained tight lipped over the extent of their interest.

Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another who is well-liked at Goodison but the Blues may be put off by the reported £70m asking price.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been repeatedly linked with a move to Everton this summer but the noises coming out of Goodison are that he is not on the shopping list.

The Fulham striker, 24, showed how much of a handful he can be when the sides met at Craven Cottage in April but he is not believed to be a player the Blues are looking to sign right now

And the same applies for Danny Welbeck , the soon to be out-of-contract Arsenal forward.

Reports of talks taking place with Everton are understood to be wide of the mark and the 28-year-old is said to be way down the list of potential striker targets this summer.

As reported last week , Everton have no plans at this stage to firm up their interest in River Plate youngster Santiago Sosa .

Marcel Brands watched the Argentinean youth international at the under-20 South American Championships in January but talk of a £13m deal has been premature.

That pretty much sinks the battle ship of about 99% of posts in this thread so.

In fairness last season Kirkbride was fairly on the mark re transfers

We pretty much knew the blueprint anyhow, Brands has already spoken of the strategy to buy 20-25/26 year olds, maybe big fees but modest wages. Welbeck at nearly 29, with a horrific injury record and looking for a wage increase of his current 100k always looked like tabloid nonsense from the get go.

The left footed right winger we also knew from Silva’s comments a few weeks back.

Interestingly, both the linked Neres and Bertrand Traore are both left footed right wingers. So is Malcom actually.

Reece James would be a cracking signing too but I can’t see Chelsea selling unfortunately. They seem to rate him highly.

How many gettable, decent, youngish left footed wingers are even about?

Neres and Malcom are the only ones I can think of

This one could be like the Mina transfer. We may well have identified him as what we needed but unfortunately he’s then exploded onto the scene which may have sky rocketed his price.

On the other hand no one seems to be talking about Lozano any more so what price Brands to get him?
United 1/4, PSG 7/4, can't find a site that is offering us so could be worth a quid if you find one that does!

So basically, back to the drawing board eh.
Not really
Think Kirkbride was just clearing up some of the bilge being reported in the scandal rags.
What I see it as , is we have set our sights much higher than the press would want us to sign.
Most players are on holiday atm so I never expected any signings till 1st/2nd week of June.
I'm more than confident Marcel & Marco got this.
