Call for a carpenter. They need an extension on their trophy cabinet. They cannae fit anymore in it.The ultimate 50 year league table champions? Another trophy to put next to the 'we've pushed City close with 97 points in a season' trophy.
Damned, so impressed
Jeez I'm not sure that the Champions League is a "consolation prize" at best.
They have never entered it as Champions, but it's the biggest prize in European, and by extension, global, club football.
I'm overjoyed that they have lost out on the league but I'll hate it if they win the UCL.
I think 99% of them would chose the PL title first, but they'll be unbearable if they win it all the same.
COYS.
I couldn't agree more with this. Last week I was looking forward to their season being over and the dark cloud lifted from above our heads thats been there since Pickford's error. Thanks very much Barcelona. I hate you just slightly less than I hate them.
I'm glad they've not won the league but winning the European cup will be a killer that will ruin it for me. That said I think if Spurs were playing anyone but them I would say Spurs have their name on it so Im not totally convinced Liverpool are winning it.
True, there is that.
However, given that we’ve been pretty hopeless for so long, I’d sooner keep a low profile and refrain from crowing about them not winning the league and stuff. Obviously, it hasn’t always been this way. Things were very different in, say, the Eighties. We were successful in own right and held our own with them. In those days, I felt entirely comfortable giving as good as I got.
Yes, but the big difference is we don't go around telling everyone its our year ever year.Mate, stuff like this makes us look daft, given that we haven’t won it for even longer than they have. Just gives their fans ammunition to have a pop at us.

What's fake about City? It's the biggest prize in club football. It's the one trophy every single elite player in the world wants to win, nobody cares about Messi winning another La Liga, Neymar and his mates with another French league title, I mean nobody even cares that Ronaldo won the scudetto. This year they have all been deemed as failures by their own fans because they never won the holy grail. It's the one trophy in modern day football that cements your legacy.
It's why I went in heavy when Barca smashed them the other week, went to bed utterly beaming after Suarez extracted more salt than Saxa. Got a swift reminder the following week about not gloating until it's actually over. Win this next month and they are the envy of every top side in Europe.
Sound they lost the league to a fake club in City but we need Spurs to sort them out or be prepared for the City Centre to be plastered in the number 6 for a while.
I'm imagining it takes a teams position in the entire league (not just Division1/PL)...because, as you refer, only a very few teams have been in top flight for 50 years. How is that league table compiled, bearing in mind only three of those teams have been ever present in the top flight over the past fifty years?
An idea that has no chance of success as nobody will vote for it. It would doubtless provide Liverpool with more income though as Anfield would be high on the list of neutral venues on the occasions they failed to make the late stages of the competition.
Think other clubs need to.aim to get to their performance levels rather than change rules and formats. VAR certainly didn't hamper them in Europe so it is safe to assume it probably won't locally next season either.
