And yet Wolves seem to have done it pretty quickly, even with a CF who posters turned their noses up at when he was quoted as an option, only scoring 8 in 33 for Benfica. Silva allegedly built his teams on a strong defense with the quick break model but we've seen performances to rival Allardyce and Koeman for sterility.A few swallows don't make a Spring.
Mate Wolves have also been busy in the market and they had a good spring board with promotion. Not just one window to get a team together. You shouldn't compare us to other teams at the moment and realise that we are trying to sort a massive mess out and with the emphasis of building a team rather than making a make do team. We have some good players that are slowly gelling but we still have a large number of unwanted players and that will hinder us unless Brands can get shot of.

The sad truth is there is an enormous gap between 6th and the rest (or the top 5 then a gap to Spurs then the rest). 6/7th is a maximum as opposed to a minimum.

We have spent money, little doubt about that, around 90 million this season. Liverpool have basically spent the equivalent on a goalkeeper or a centre half. It's a lot of money for us but in the general scheme of the PL is not the sort of sums that will terrify the sides above us.

What is required is a process. If we can continue to spent reasonable sums of money, in a controlled and strategic way we will get better. This is what happened under Moyes up to about 2009 where we radically improved. We hit a wall when the money ran out. I don't think the money will be allowed to run out in the same way again, but we need to get to that point first.
What you are saying there is what Brands and Silva are saying all season but not everybody is listening.
The progress we see will probably be incremental and will take a few years to challenge for a top four position, if the recruitment policy proves successful and Marco Silva delivers as coach/manager.

The hope is that the players we sign during the summer settle quicker than expected and are able to perform to their expectations just as quickly and that could move the process forward.
This season we will probably finish eight, ninth or tenth and next season maybe sixth, seventh or eight.

The season after that will be the third full season under Silva, most of the older costly mistakes will be washed out one way or the other, the team at that stage will be almost a Silva/Brands creation and we will more clearly see what they have created.

I would say Brands and Siva came in last summer and had targets in the window quickly resolved. The tricky part is what was already here. They probably knew about some of our players and probably knew little about the rest. With a full season under his belt they will be in a much more educated position regarding all the players here. I think summer is going to be very interesting but will still not be 'We are back' season. That may happen in a couple of more seasons. We just have to be patient (not easy) and accept small strides and the odd 1 step back 2 step forwards. Let us put to bed the 10 game judgement of not good enough let's sack him attitude that is holding this club back.

They only hinder us because we have a billionaire owner with long pockets.Maybe when I erase the Chelsea first half out of my mind. But come to think of it no.

It seems like you have erased the Chelsea second half from your mind and the full West Ham game. Glass half empty. Our last 135 minutes of Football have been excellent and if that is a sign of things to come then I am on board.

We've finished in the top 7 twice since Moyes left.

Because we have appointed ass clown managers.

Any half decent manager with the funds Moshiri has provided would have us 7th - we are 4 points off that now despite having had relegation form for about 3 months and handing Wolves and Watford 4 points each.

Our fanbase need to get off their knees and start acting like a big club and not some Burnley or Bournemouth happy to just experience the premier league experience.

I must admit its funny seeing the goal posts change from Silva has a free pass this season then 7th next season to "oh well if we finish 9th next year thats acceptable" im sorry he aint seeing out a 3 year contract and getting an extension from Mosh if he has 9-11th finishes in 2 seasons on the bounce.

There must be improvement next season and he'll have zero excuse for not delivering 7th and european qualification.
