Of course re: Rodwell, but disagree with the Fellaini shout. Fellaini is undoubtedly twice the player when told to sit and control what's in front of him (See Man City). It's when he's chasing back he has his problems.

At the moment, with a fully fit squad, would Heitinga be named in most Evertonians sides? I'd say no chance in midfield and on current form, would he get ahead of Distin at the back?

So then it boils down to whether we have a sulking egoistic highest earner centre half sat on the bench.

But he's got our backs against the snides :(

Fine, if he isn't playing for whatever reason he might as well be sold.

Why was he bought? Why is he now not good enough to be played if we offered him big money to sign on deadline day.

How does a Dutch international defender who helped his team reach a world cup final struggle to get in the team of a mid table Premierleague side? Are we really that good?

Was he a sulking egotistic player when we bought him or did he turn into one? If he even is.

8 games he's played - lost 2.

7 games Fellaini played - lost 3.

I never thought, that 14 months after signing the trio of £9 million russian star Bilyaletdinov, highly rated Dutch international Heitinga, and ageing, international cap-less, Sylvain Distin, that the latter of the three would be the best buy. And by some margin.

Probably add Yak or Saha to that IMO...as I dont think he's happy with the strikers especially after saying he knew he needed to strengthen that area in the summer but had no money...

And Yobo.

Gonna be tough...especially if we dont finish in the top 6 which is looking tougher each week

There's not a chance of top 6, imo. I expect Liverpool to pick up one of the two Europa League places with Spurs/Man City or Villa taking the other spot.

It'll be worse than sell to buy next summer. Proven quality will depart in these next two transfer windows replaced by signings with potential. Then how do you keep someone like Rodwell happy? We're heading in the wrong direction despite all the talk of an embarrassment of riches at the start of the season.

Bilya, Heitinga, Yobo, Pienaar - that talk of "squad depth" gets thrown out the window on the back of those departures -

Add Neville, Saha, and Distin over 30 - Cahill 31. Yak 55. And probably some teams having nibbles on Fellaini and Jags (maybe)...time for another rebuild.

January business

Pienaar out - £1-2 million
Heitinga out - £6-10 million
Saha out - £2-4 million
Bily out - A cardboard cutout of Van Der Vaart

Spend it on Taylor, Landon and a replacement for Peanuts (quite literally, they'll have to cost Peanuts).

I stand by what I've said really, I think his supposed 'attitude' problem has been blown out of proportion. I've heard Moyes, Arteta and Cahill praise his attitude, quality and the way he's fit into the squad as a character. I have no doubt that he'd be gone if a bigger club came in for him, but I'd say the same about 75% of our squad, if not more. His comments in the media where stupid, I wouldn't disagree with that, but that doesn't automatically mean he wants out right now.

His performances on the pitch have been average, but I read a quote from Heitinga saying he had an injury and was taking injections to play. That hasn't even been mentioned, and it's likely to effect any players form, especially one who's playing out of position. That's not to say Heitinga can't play in midfield, he can, but his natural position is centre back, and when you aren't 100%, I think it's alot easier to slot into more natural surroundings, and a position that is alot less demanding in terms of mobility.

I've seen every game he's played this season, his attitude and workrate has been fine. It's typical of alot of our fanbase though, every time a player goes through a bad patch in there career there attitude is questioned. Even players like Cahill and Arteta get it, it's ridiculous really.

We wont get anything for Pienaar. Why would anyone want to buy him when he's free in the summer? Bang out a pre-contract with foreign clubs in Jan, agent gets a signing on fee, he goes to said foreign club for nothing in the summer. He'll also have more options in the summer as prem clubs can talk to him.

Wont get that much for Saha - especially when he hasnt scored for something stupid like 9months and injury prone.

Bilya - Age in hsi favour, but wont get anything more than £6mill for him.

Heitinga - not much in January and maybe £8mill+ in the summer.

And Taylor replacement for Heitinga? My word. He cant even get into the Barcodes squad...and he's a bit of a donkey IMO.

I personally want to sell him, for no other reason than to strengthen a more needy position. He can't get a game at the moment, and I'm not convinced he'd be able to partner Jags as well as we'd all hoped -- I remember dreaming of Felli and Arteta in the middle together, but so far they've been quite [Poor language removed] as a combo. And honestly, we could net a tidy fee for him I'll bet. A tidy fee we could use to bring in someone to help with the goal drought, because defensively, we're doing okay.

Taylor's good enough to warm the bench, which is exactly what Heitinga will be doing if he stays.

If that were the case, he'd probably go to Stoke or a Bolton to get games.

Decent shout to be fair as we do need a back up and replacement for Distin who isnt getting younger. But January isnt the time to be doing all this IMO.

Our last back up defenders in Jan were Senderos and bloke from Spurs who was injured when we got him.
