The problem is much deeper than just the manager and will never be sorted without stability.
Hopefully Brands and Silva will bring this.
There is having stability and then there is having blind faith.

What’s your case for Silva remaining in the job, without saying we can’t keep sacking managers?

Martinez did. He should have walked after his second season but got a third because of his first.

Sam should still be here now imo.
Free hit Martinez? His first season was brilliant, Silva is the first manager since Walker to instantly show zero sign of progression.
That aside mate I see you say above you would rather of kept Sam, that's how I felt at the time as well, to sack him after he did what we wanted him to do, with no top manager available was ridiculous from Moshiri

Because if we were to sack him now no top manager will take us seriously.
All we would get would be mercenary managers here for the pay off after doing poorly.
Bit like Sam and even maybe Silva now.

The club have made this mess by giving Martinez free reign to run the club when he was clearly out of his depth.
If he was part of a coaching that included defensive coaches then it could be a different story now.

Didn't want Silva and really thought Sam could do something with a club our size given a chance.
He'd never been given one before.

You’re putting the blame on how bad we are now down to Martinez? The man was dismissed his post 3 years ago. The season after we finished 7th, about 16 points clear of 8th.

Newcastle United, a complete basket case of a club, managed to attract Rafael Benitez. We have the pull of the Premier League and could attract a lot of managers from abroad.

Unfortunately, our board believe the best managers for the job are flavour of the month managers from rubbish Premier League teams.

There is no case for Silva. He is, by far and away, the worst manager we have had in decades.

That I agree 100%.
What I meant with Martinez was Bill giving him full control of the club like Moyes had. He didn't have the experience.
If he'd come in under someone like Brands then I believe he'd still be here now with a trophy under his belt.

But you understand that ‘keeping faith’ with Silva is equally as risky if he’s not up to it?

Which there’s is little to know evidence that he is up to it.

I'm not fighting to keep him. If he was sacked tomorrow then I wouldn't lose a seconds sleep.
I'm just not calling for his head now as I believe our problems run deeper than the manager.
Hopefully Brands will sort this. I will back whatever he does.

Our problems do indeed run deeper. My fear is they will get worse with the wrong manager here to help sort some of them.

Na..... keep sacking managers isn’t fixing it neither sack him nxt season if we’re crap Yearh not now tho!
That’s just a waste of another season. We know, not just from his time here, but his time at Watford and Hull, that Silva cannot turn around a bad run of form. His weak tactics get found out.

It’s time for him to go. There is no case to be made for him to remain.
