ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I didn't see any of it, was just going off the general consensus that otamendi in no way meant to handle it (which he got one of the two yellows for) and the other foul was offside.

Keeps fernandinho fresh for the league anyway.

Yes, it could be argued that he didn’t mean to handle it but the ball had travelled quite a long way.....that defence is only ever legitimate when the player adjudged to have handled the ball is right beside the player taking the shot and literally has no time to avoid handling it.

Otamendi had plenty of time to see the ball coming

And I tell you this.....thise same people saying ut was an injustice would be hopping mad if EFC were denied a penno in that circumstance :)

The RS lost all three away games in the group.

I cannot see them end8ng that streak in Munich.

Klopp has only beaten Porto, Maribor and some German team in the europa league away from home in Europe in terms of continental opposition.

He didn’t beat any of:

Dortmund
Villarreal
Sevilla (final)
Sevilla (group)
Spartak Moscow
Roma
Real Madrid
PSG
Napoli
Red Star Belgrade

And only managed to draw with two out of that list.

Despite this though they have of course decreed themselves as favourites to go and blow away Bayern in the second leg.

To me the predicted slump has occurred. He raced his side out of the blocks at the start of the season but you can see them running out legs now. They had a bit of a wobble in the autumn but were fortunate to limit this to the cups.

Bournemouth stabilised them slightly, but that was the perfect opposition for them. They are getting close to being in the "1-defeat and the slump becomes a crisis" moment again.

Sides who sit deep against them tend to get joy. European teams pay them some more respect now (and don't match them up as if they were Europa league fodder) and are benefitting from it.

One thing is clear though, City are soaring forward. A Great win for them with 10 men away at German opposition. The slump has to end quickly.

I think United may get something against them Sunday. A defeat would put them under enormous scrutiny, a draw would do little for them. Lots of tough teams to go.

As for Bayern away, this was a bit of a gimme tie for them. Bayern are an ageing team in transition. They looked to blow them away in leg one and were completely fruitless. They have won 22 of their 26 home knock out tie's, Bayern are big favourites.

It's probably me becoming too optimistic, but a defeat at United and us managing to put a defeat on them would really kibosh their season and frankly would probably see off Klopp. It's big stakes now. We look a million miles away from doing it mind, but you sense the moment City get out in front heads are going to fall off.

I think Mane, Firmino & Salah all need a prolonged rest. Their back up players are terrible and it can't be granted to them. Tick tock tick tock.

Yes agree with you about city's squad and again about not really playing quality in cups yet but as much as I don't like to say it mate Liverpool have some good players no getting away from that so fingers crossed that you right

Yes, they have good players but lack strength in depth. They’re having to play midfielders in defence and have no real cover for their front 3. Should one of Mane, Salah or Firminho pick up an injury, they’d have to rely on the likes on Sturbridge (has been) and Origi (never was) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Liverpool won’t win the Premier League or Champions League. No chance.

I think a draw is a decent result for them at Old Trafford because City would potentially have to win there then and hope Liverpool dropped points in order to get ahead of them. I think they’ve dropped a ball in the CL as they could have won the tie in one leg and despite their propaganda winning at Bayern is not as easy as they make out.

For me to feel that they are no longer favourites in the title race then they would need to lose to United and drop points to us. That would put City two ahead (presuming they win). But with United away still to play for City they could easily drop back to level or even behind.

It will be tight but it’s advantage Liverpool still for me and if they see off United then they’d have to do a lot to mess it up.

Klopp fined for comments about the ref in the game they drew against West Ham. The ref should have been a “human being” and let them win basically.
