I ask you one thing pal. Are the things you mention have anything to do with getting points? Stats mean nothing.

When you have more pocession in a game and shots on target, would you get more points?

You really need to knock the stats on the head. Look at the state of the actual goals we do concede.

I don't think so, especially in the instance where a manager would disagree with what was needed. That's a critical part of the hiring process. Or that the manager wouldn't be backed by the DofF. A massive part of the DofF role is picking the right coach. I would think if the structure was proper, it would have the opposite effect on the players. Meaning if a manager goes, things about the club aren't changing. Same vision. Same goals. Things are LESS likely to change. But the D of F can be fired, too.

Yes, it is a critical part of the hiring process that a DoF hires a manager that agrees with what he wants, but there's always a possibility that a DoF and a manager could disagree over something, and if that something is important then it could lead to issues. Brands might think a new manager is completely on the same page as him, but he could be mistaken, which could then lead to conflict. It seems like he and Silva tend to agree more than disagree on the sort of players they want to bring in, which is a point in Silva's favour

Regarding the players, again, I don't see how what you've written contradicts what I wrote. The fact that the DoF staying means the vision and goals won't change only strengthens my argument that the manager is secondary to the DoF, which in turn means the players are more likely to down tools on a manager they don't like because they know the DoF is the real boss

I wonder how much different things would be if we had a good striker. For example put Lukaku in this side and I reckon we'd have an extra 6 to 9 points and most fans would be satisfied.

Having said that I think Brands needs to be drawing up a short list of potential new managers. Don't sack Silva unless we have sounded out his replacement.

I see no point in appointing a care taker manager as this group of players won't show any commitment if they know the manager is only here short term.

Okay, will give you that one. He had a poor game.

But not really. He's 24, just, got plenty of time to improve and in the main has looked our most 'solid' of the three CBs.

Still got a lot to improve on but he did very well in the derby against Salah, he was pretty good in his debut v Chelsea (up against Hazard) and overall it's been Keane and Zouma who have been at the heart of our dreadful defensive displays.

Mina has made two errors as far as I recall this season - or two errors that have directly cost us at least. Other than that he's been decent. Also worth noting that any player brought in is down to both the manager and DoF wanting them. Not one or the other.

He played 45 minutes in that game and tbf was dreadful for their first goal.

But other than that and that moment of madness v City, he's done okay.

Injuries are clouding people's judgement but I'd have him back in when fit and stick with him.

He looks fine on the deck, but for someone who's about ten foot tall, he's yet to convince me with his aerial prowess, which should be his strong point like. Hopefully it's a confidence thing and he comes good.

Reckon he's one of those players which is better attacking the ball in the air than defending it. And I don't think it's any coincidence that we haven't looked vulnerable - in the main - with zonal marking when he was in the side.

Even the one v Millwall that he was partially at fault for came about because he got dragged into no-man's land while we were playing that high-line from a FK.

Its a mid table side with the experienced players a year older and some of them looking totally finished.

And yet our last 2 managers managed to get them to 7th and 8th.
