Yet Koeman got 7th and BFS got 8th. If you call that getting battering every week what’s the crap being served up this season? We got beaten by West Ham, Leicester and Wolves at home my goodness. Wolves dismantled Everton.
Again, if you think points happen magically and that things like chances created, shots, etc. don’t matter, that’s fine. I prefer to not be outshot 23-3 and still salvage a point. Don’t think that’s a recipe for long term success.

Ok, whoa. We completely dominated Newcastle this year. I was ticked just like everyone else, but we had the ball the whole game, they bunkered in, we gave them the ball back a bit, we struggled to break them down, and they got a point. We played well against the last year, but they had plenty of opportunities to scored against us. I recall Gayle having several opportunities that didn’t go his way. But that was one of the few matches we actually played well if I recall. However, it was a game, it wasn’t just Newcastle under siege and bunkering down.

No we never

Winning the possession doesn’t equate to dominating a team. They had more clear cut opportunities and made our keeper work more

We conceded 58 last year, with a goal differential of -14. Our goals conceded from open play was 46. Worst in the entire league my friend.

Is that we mean we’re ok now? We have to face the top 6 five more times don’t forget.

We were under 3 caretaker/manager. Despite that we were 8th and let’s see where we’re gonna to get this season.

This is like Martinez talking we would go for CL. Deluding ourselves it’s gonna be fine.

Yes points are the only thing matter. I take 1 shot on target and we win 1-0 every match instead of having 23 shots on targets and draw 2-2.

Would take Moshiri's backing Silva comments with a pinch of salt as it usually tends to be the opposite. Going off the not too distant past, the worst thing that can happen for an Everton Manager is Moshiri speaking to Jim White and publicly backing the Manager. It happens when we are doing absolutely cack and the pressure is on. Seems to be the way he operates. There will be articles on the Everton website with the players backing him next. It has all happened before and is not a good sign for the Manager and he is usually gone not too long after.

Comparisons to last year shouldn’t be made. Teams below us strengthened. We ourselves strengthened yet we won’t finish with a higher points total or better goal difference.

We have to continually grow each year after a few seasons of poor decision making. x

P.S. I say a few, I mean a lot.

The thing is mate, he could have done more.

That's my issue with Sam and why I hate this revisionism about his time here.

He could easily have got us 7th - not that it made much difference - and even just kept the fan base relatively on side had he showed some inclination to be anything other than a dinosaur. He had the squad to do it, to an extent. He didn't have to play that way, but he did. We were safe by January.

I remember Allardyce coming out and saying when we were mathematically safe he would start opening up more, more expansive, more attacking, but it never developed because it was always about him, and his record.

Must admit I am some what at a loss, I have been critical of the manager and the tactics but also accept the players could do a lot better. Ian Wright on his talk was saying the club should stick with him and give him the chance to turn matters round but how long? To the end of the season? How much more are the fans expected to put up with or the management in a care less attitude?

There is a thread about a replacement if he was sacked but I suppose ideally a resignation would be the ticket but we are still faced with whom comes in, not going to expand on that there is a thread for it.

Don't get the issue with Silva.
Poll on here when he was appointed suggested we would be happy with mid table in his first season.

His new players have been our better performers this season.
He's giving the rest a whole season to prove their worth and they are failing badly.
Summer he can shift out the failings and add his own.

We have strengthened too in fact this is the best squad since Moyes was here.

Excuse after excuse. I believe there will be more excuse if things continue not working out.

I believe if things aren’t working out we should cut lost sooner rather than later. This season up to this point, is similar to Martinez’s 2nd and 3rd season. We should consider his position in May.

We would definitely be happy with him, even if we finished 10th, IF there were signs of life. That's the main point. Do we accept that we're getting battered, but it's because of certain holes in the defence, or because we're not playing our tactics for 10-15 mins and getting punished. are we generally showing that we are improving, but just getting picked off because we still have 'mid-table' or 'non-elite' players like Walcott, Keane, Tosun and young players who haven't grown yet. If we could show that we are moving up I would accept a lower league position if:

1) We 2 and drew 2 out of 12 matches against the top 6 (that's not a lot!!)
2) We managed 5-10 clean sheets in the year
3) 4-5 players showed improvement
4) We could see our future squad development

Anyway let's see whats next

We simply cannot keep sacking managers and replacing them every season, if for no other reason than it is costing us a fortune of money we cannot afford.

Results, and the season in general, are disappointing but we are all aware of the difficulties the DOF and manager have regarding a bloated squad of overpaid players that are proving difficult to sell. Time must be allowed to sort this problem and it was this problem in part which prevented the manager manager making signings during the recent window.

I think we have got to accept the manager will be given more time, rightly so and I think if we are no better in twelve months time... then he is in trouble.

I think it would be helpful if Marcel Brands were to give the fans a general outline as to where the club stands today , what the objectives are and a timescale for the future.. nothing too specific but it would help settle supporters if they could believe there is at least a plan.

We just need to get one good proven winner in instead of "flavour of the month"
