I watched my beloved Armagh concede an injury time goal today to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.

It came from a set piece and I am just conditioned to know that my team concedes from free kicks.

I hate you Everton. It’s a different sport yet still your karma permeates all my life escapes.

Note Hull's position in 16/17, Watfords in 17/18 and of course ours so far in 18/19.
The strange thing is that Silva in his other jobs before he arrived in England had the reputation of a manager who kept it tight and conceded few goals:

2013/14 season with Estoril conceded 26 goals in 30 games (4th best and finished 4th)
2014/15 season with Sporting conceded 29 goals in 34 games (4th best and finished 3rd)
2015/16 season with Olympiakos conceded 16 goals in 30 games (1st and finished 1st)

It's not like the feller has an aversion to defensive duties, he's just never got players in this league to defend with discipline from balls knocked into the box. We've been atrocious at this in the recent past, but never like this. I'm going to hold my nose typing this: Jagielka's presence for set pieces has been missed.

Keane is a complete car crash in open play. Zouma is a complete liability at set plays. None of our full backs can defend very well. None of our midfielders have any interest in defending.

That would be my summary.

Just attack the ball and head it...... Is that too simple??
each individual player marks a man, go where he goes. If he goes to get the ball, either beat him to it or put him off getting a strike on goal. Whereas we seem to stand on a spot and watch someone with a different coloured shirt on waltz past and smash the ball to the side of Jords who is stood behind the line (so the goal line tech can see the line properly)

I play CB (only amatuer county level, nothing special). When opposition gets a corner/free kick, the first thing you do is locate the man you have been assigned to mark. And like you say, get to the ball first/stop him getting there. When that ball is delievered I will attack that ball and get my head/foot on it wherever possible.

The point im making is that Everton defenders seem to have no desire to meet the ball, head it, or even stop opposition players running towards it. Surely that is not what they are being coached. Thats a basic hunger and responsibility!

In a fairness Dave, most Sunday league players would thrive in Portugal and Greece it’s not hardly a stick to compare the goal threat over there to here.

The most common denominator is his PL record, if you’re saying he’s never had the players surely the simple answer is changing the system

I just refuse to believe that professional footballers don’t want to win
