ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

It's a young thing, deffo one that lads who weren't even born use a lot more than the generation who were actually affected by it.

A year after it we all traveled down to Wembley together, sang about how jersey side was great and that London stank and no one mentioned heysel at all. Same again in 89 although there was a more recent tragedy that people were talking about.
To even mention the two tragedy’s together tells me all I need to know about you. One was an indescribable tragedy which was truly awful.
The other was mindless violence resulting in 39 deaths.

Errr yeah.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick pal.

What strikes me about the average RS fan these day's are that they are not really interested in football.

Unless it involves the cult, and in true Stalinist North Korean fashion, all external clubs and players don't exist.

This occasionally back fires on them in spectacular fashion, they sign a player ( of whom they have never mentioned before) and he becomes 'da best prospect in da world'.

A year later, the same 'best prospect' leaves on a free to a minor German team, and is never spoken of again.

He is erased from their collective consciousness and official club history.

As orthodoxy dictates, Cult's are always right and never make errors of judgment.

Try talking to any RS fan about Lionel Messi, and within 10 seconds, it's all about 'the superior' Mo Salah.
This is not a recent thing, I recall such crap being spouted 25 years ago.

I'd like to refute this stuff about the older generation not hating them.

My Dad was a lifelong blue until he died just over a year ago aged 87. He used to watch Tommy Lawton - his favourite player ever.

He said to me once when I was a kid 'Son, I wouldn't cheer for Liverpool if they had Jesus Christ managing them and the twelve apostles making up the team and the sub'. I quoted that word for word, on the altar at church, when I delivered his eulogy. With my EFC shirt on as he'd asked.

He loathed them. Proudly. All his life.

And so do I. Have never wanted them to win a game of football, ever. And never will.

People need to stop shitting themselves. I’m pretty confident that they won’t win the league. Yes, they are 5 points clear of City, but it’s February and there are plenty of games left to play. I, for one, won’t be hoping that City batter us. Very sad, in my opinion. I’d rather us concentrate on finding a way to take points off them. People seem to think we have no chance but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that we can beat them.
Remember much the same said about Leicester...plenty of games...they wont last, etc.

Sadly, the city is pretty much universally disliked. It’s the 21st century, yet [Poor language removed] heads everywhere wheel out tired old cliches about Scousers. Millwall fans, last weekend, “I’d rather be a P*** than a Scouse”.
I travel pretty much constantly for work and outside of brexit infested UK towns, the announcement of where I am from has only ever been met with positivity. The rs however are consistently met with contempt by followers of football, you are talking hogwash and it all looks very very transparent

Care to give examples?

I, too, have travelled all over the country. I’ve lived in various places, some nice, some not so nice. I’ve heard all the tired old cliches and ‘jokes’ - hubcaps, car stereos, work-shy, etc.
