2018/19 Idrissa Gueye

What ruined our season last year was not Europe, it was an impossible early schedule in terms of PL games and a team with 5 or 6 midfielders and no CF or fullbacks.

I don't think starting our season in mid July is ideal. We would need massive changes to our changes to our squad. Probably more changes than can be made effectively in one window.

I want to be in Europe absolutely. But I don't want all those qualifiers. I don't think we'll come 7th in any case.

You and several other posters shouldn't be. He's a really good player.

He’s a good player but in my opinion he doesn’t fit the system Silva wants to play with three versatile centre mids. With Gueye’s absence last night at Hudds we saw for the first time this season the way Silva likes to set up the midfield, stats showed Sig made the most tackles I think.

Real Madrid once signed Julian Faubert IIRC. A very much over the hill Tommy G went there too.

Just to counter you point. These teams can get it very wrong at times.

Fair enough.

I can't imagine it's the case here.

People act like Gana's crap. He isn't. He'd get into every squad in the league and would start for most teams. He's going to be a miss.

It isn't the end of the world, not at all, and £30m is a good fee. It's just a shame we have to keep selling our better players, rather than the dross we have accumulated.

In an ideal world, we keep Gana and improve on him. That's how to improve overall. But a £30m fee is a good one.

Silva said last night that he was left out because of groin injury. He's going to look pretty stupid if Idrissa is sold or the club is working behind his back. I doubt this injury would effect his medical.

Not just because Davies played well yesterday (Is that gonna get me in trouble?) but because McCarthy is coming back too, and we may as well give Davies a run and try Baines as DCM later, I would really be happy with £30m only.
It's the last day of the transfer window, this is a test for Brands to see if he can get silly money at this time of year.

We will miss him, but the only good thing is if he wants to go and if we get silly money, its worth it.

Because a player doesn't fit into a managers formation doesn't make them a bad player.

I think Gueye was just too good to leave out of the side but is not ideally the type of player Marco Silva would normally play.

The opportunity to get a good fee, reduce wages and hopefully sign a player identified by Brands/Silva is probably to good to walk away from and risk keeping an unhappy player.
I hope he is sold to PSG rather than a Premiership side.
