Everton fans being glory hunters? Lol

What else explains someone without any patience to watch a team be built from scratch?

Its either glory hunting, afolescence or lack of understanding...

What about Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Tottenham and United who have gone through numerous managers?

Chelsea with billions

City with billions who changed the whole team several times and once more for Pep

Liverpool who practically changed the whole team and gave klopp time

Tottenham whove given Poch time and already had Kane Alli Trippier and others

United whove given mourinho 3 years and hundreds of millions

You want Silva to stay then....i agree.

Agree 100% with this. Zonal marking is - understandably - the thing that people are losing their heads over at the moment, but it's way down the list of issues for me. The set up of the team just isn't working, so we can't control the game, so we concede set pieces, so we concede goals.

One of the reasons why i'm willing to give Silva time is because I can see why he's setting us up like he is. The lack of a goal threat from everywhere else means that he feels like he has to shoehorn Sigurdsson into the side, and that's causing us problems. If he changes it with our current personnel though, we just create a different problem. Say we bring Davies in instead to the midfield to give a bit more structure and solidity (yes yes I know), move Richarlison back up top and put Bernard in on the left, the entire starting 11 has 62 PL goals between them. A third of those come from our right back. It's no surprise that he's trying to give more of a goal threat then, but I think we're at a point where somethings got to give.

Spot on.

This post is all thats wrong with the attitude of the fanbase at this time.

Zonal marking (which all the top teams in european football use) doesnt work because of the management???That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

The reason its not working is because of the players -- thats just obvious. Cant you see them every single game failing to concentrate? Why is that? Because THEY ARENT GOOD ENOUGH.

Keane cant head a ball and Zouma loses concentration whilst Mina is trying to adapt while stuck next to these 2.

Exactly - so why does the manager persist with it if the players can't do it?

That's poor management. It's a lack of pragmatism.

I don't get why it's too hard for him to set up so our biggest defenders man-to-man mark their most dangerous headers of the ball from set pieces, why we can't put a player on each post, and why we can't use the rest of our players to either pick up their other man or stay in the danger zones to react to where the ball is going.

Even if the original premise wasn’t contradictory, this post is.

You’re effectively saying we should sack him because of zonal marking but we should still sack him even if we win our next 15 games - which would surely just prove that zonal marking is absolutely not a problem at all.

Winning our next 15 games really, really wouldn’t be anything even remotely like winning your remaining games after going down would it? If we stop with the woe is me melodrama then all that’s actually happened is we’ve been knocked out of a cup that we’ve only won 5 times in 140 years. If we won all our remaining games we’d quite possibly finish in the champions league spots , would definitely finish in our highest position for years and would have smashed our longest winning streak. But you’d want the manager sacked because we conceded a last minute goal away at Milwall.

No, it'd prove the manager can't function under conditions that have any sort of stress factor. Winning our next 15 games is, obviously, hypothetical - and I actually said if he did win those 15 games he'd stay on.

I don't want the manager sacked because of one last minute goal - I want him sacked because he hasn't done anything to suggest he's a manager who can mould a succcessful side in the long term, and he has no past credentials to suggest he can. Therefore my belief now is stringing this out with him in charge is a total waste of time.

was starting to clam down yesterday after that mess on saturday

woke up and seen we would have gotten Wimbledon and Chelsea got united, honestly that has tipped me over the edge

what a disgusting pathetic team we are, what a chance, what a boss chance it was to go far this year with some big teams out already and more big boys playing each other

criminal going out on Saturday, wish we could just fire everyone and start again

Seeing Baines trying to block that enormous duffer from Lincoln at set pieces tells everyone all you need to know how badly wrong we are getting it. Then one of their players saying we worked on it because they saw how poor we were, especially at the back post. We, as fans, have known it since August and it’s now almost February. Good grief! Get a grip, Marco.

It's the most indicative issue, not the biggest one. It's clear proof that he's not a pragmatist. It has been an issue since the season started and he's persisted with it no matter what because of a stupid philosophy, instead of being pragmatic and adjusting.

Or, to be blunt, he's not managing. He's sending out roughly the same team to do the exact same thing, week after week, despite it not working.

It's like having Tony Hibbert and demanding he plays like Cafu. It's stupid. All of the issues you state are correct - and every single one of them haven't been managed by the manager.

I agree both aspects are working against us but Millwall offered nothing in open play. A totally inferior team won because we insist on using a system that we haven’t mastered in 6 months. We scored two. We should be walking away with a win without even breaking sweat.

That’s correct and we always concede straight away after taking a lead and then tend to crumble...mentality is Super fragile

And I get that. Things change very quickly in football, if we lose our next 2 games I might join you in thinking he's got to go, but if we win them we likely find ourselves 7th/8th. You reckon it'd be easy to attract a new manager who's seen us sack someone after 6 months for taking us a place higher in the table?

It's still early days in theory, I agree that we've not seen improvement yet, but it's churlish to suggest that if we show improvement now it will be too late. It's his first season, he's changed the style of play, tried out different players and systems etc, if it clicks later in the season it's surely a good thing and suggests that he needed time, not that he can only do it when the pressure's off (which in itself is a hilariously bad argument because the pressure is now quite obviously on hence us having this conversation). Even if we accept that very shaky premise, it's asking an awful lot for him to change the mentality of the club within his first 6 months. We've been failing for 30 years, saying that he should immediately rid us of our inability to perform under pressure is setting a standard that i'm not sure any manager would be able to reach.

I honestly just think its impatience Zat, I think it's that simple. As a club we are just in no mans land and clubs we have always considered to be our peers throughout our history have pulled away from us and it's causing mass panic. people are scared that we are forever lost to the elite, which is where we have been the majority of our existence.

People just want it back and when a new owner comes on board and basically says he will deliver just that, it's thrown expectation sky high. That's my take on it.

Its frustrating, even local sunday teams will play with big lads against big lads, small lads on the post or i a counter attack position. what do i know, only got my Football leaders award, never did make the prem lol

Aye, that was completely and utterly embarrassing. How a Premier League manager being paid millions can get it so, so wrong, and still refuse to change what is clearly not working, is beyond me.

Yep, it's not rocket science. Probably Silva wanting to be 'cutting edge' or 'different', when the tried-and-tested techniques of big men on big men and two on the posts si proven to work a lot better.

Don’t worry, we would have drawn Chelsea in our evertonian universe...
