I’ve seen enough positive performances throughout the season to justify giving him more time. We have a ridiculous amount of squad fodder from the previous managers as it is, if we bring in another manager then he’ll probably drop more players instead of giving them a chance to prove their worth and our wage budget will increase further.

As long as we’re not in a relegation battle, Silva should be given at least another season after this.

I find it hard to believe that so many Evertonians want rid of a manager after just over half a season, we’re 3 points off 7th (a realistic target for this season). I understand the performance against Millwall was bad, but some people are being too irrational and letting emotions overshadow the positives of this season.

Have a look at our fixtures and see if you really think we will get the points to get 7th mate.

Think he’s not been given all the tools required.

Who on earth didn’t realise we need one / two strikers at start of season?
That’s the boards fault; he’s got one hand tied behind his back right now.

I've been one for giving him time and this window and the summer to mould his own squad, however I am losing patience,he should be doing much, much better with what he has available, the same basic errors occurring on a weekly basis,so vulnerable from set pieces/corners,cant withstand any pressure, even a couple of minutes we'll concede, chops and changes almost panic selections, this tippy tappy sideways backwards stuff drives me insane, stick or twist?it's a long time until august, your call again Mr Mosh.

A lack of strikers cannot be blamed for continuously pissing goals from set pieces (after getting in 3 new defenders), nor having zero control of the ball (after getting a new midfielder) or having any clear attacking threat at the opposition's goal (after buying 2 new wingers).

Saying he's suffering solely because it's not his team is completely bizarre. Sure, he obviously needs a striker to pull in the goals but the rest of the team looks completely aimless and devoid of any footballing ability which lies solely at his door

Our pursuit of Silva was clear, sustained and obvious, if he does get the boot then he shouldn’t be the only one carrying the can.

I’d give him at least another 18 months. The summer window will be massive for the club.
There are many examples of managers coming in and having an instant impact but there are also plenty of examples of managers being given time and getting it right.

He’s having one at the minute. He’s showing a lot of emotion when we score and that may be suggestive of pressure.

The horrendous defending of last season which seemed to have been checked a few months ago has returned. Everyone knows we are susceptible to set pieces. Zonal defending isn’t working for us and the team has nose dived since the derby. Keane was a disaster last year and Zouma played in Stokes relegation season, Mina has barely played and when he has he’s looked like he needs time, Coleman seems to be in decline and when the confidence goes we’re left with players who can’t cut it. You can’t polish a turd.

He has inherited a disaster of a squad but Marcel Brands is clearly in there to address this with Silva to focus on the team, I’ve no doubt the pressure will be cranked up on Silva over the next few weeks and months.

Our season is practically over now anyway.

Silva and Brands will have to earn their money in the coming months.

I really struggle to see how a striker could make any difference to a team that can’t defend.

I was thinking the same. Maybe if we had someone who could reliably finish it would take some pressure off the defence and they'd play better? I don't know, I'm desperately reaching for a positive.

While we're all angry there's literally zero point In sacking him now.
While I'm not convinced on him , we'd have to find a competent manager that'd actually turn up for more than just a paycheck (Mourinho)
How many of them are available right now?
Also chances are they'd have to work with the same group of spineless cowards we've currently got.
I'd much rather our wonderful owner put his hand in his pocket, and pay a bit on top if needed to get the players we desperately need.
A competent striker, athletic box to box and and decent right back to challenge Seamus would make a hell of a difference.
Give them half a season to bed in, get the fans back on side and a bit of positivity around the place to set us up for next year

I would be more worried if I thought he hadn't diagnosed the issues, but it's clear he has. Note comments yesterday about 'you can work on set pieces all the time, you can know exactly how they will play, but you have to carry it out on the pitch'. He knows where it's going wrong and he's telling the players what to do to stop it. I honestly think that on the whole the issue is that they aren't doing absolutely basic things that would hugely improve the situation. So many individual errors this season costing us points it's just ridiculous.

That doesn't mean Silva has been faultless. In-game tactics, relying too heavily on e.g. Gomes while being out of form, and not having a clear plan B when plan A isn't working have cost us points this season. And of course it's up to the manager to find solutions. But I don't think his performance has been so poor as to be worthy of a sacking. Far from it.

I was as sick about that game last night as I have been in a long time -- the combination of woeful refereeing, naive fouls, the idiotic Kilbane (only EFC could have an ex-player in the media who is not only not biased towards us but at times actively against us!), and a 94th minute defeat you just knew was coming when the foul was given was just too much. But in the circumstances I thought did as well as any other prem team would have done. It was a horrible pitch, horrible swirling weather, terrible refereeing. Reminded me of when City went out to Wigan last year. The sort of game you just want to make sure you don't lose. We'd absolutely have achieved that without the handball goal.

But in perspective it's going to take time on three fronts: 1) to overcome the shambolic squad-building from the Walsh period, 2) to rebuild the discipline and determination to perform that Martinez threw away, and 3) to get used to the new style of football that is drastically different from what we had under Allardyce and Koeman.

I don't think Marco has done such a bad job that a) he should be sacked, or b) a realistic appointment would do any better. I want him to have until at least this time next year depending on results. For the rest of this season I'd say we should be aiming for 60 points, 7th place (still fully attainable), a couple of standout victories against top 6 teams, and of course a 15-0 victory and defeat against Liverpool and City respectively.

If the players are not listening to him then there is no point in keeping him on.
