I thought I'd been done there, I had to quickly check. Is that one real!?
Good save that to be fair, a bit of self deprecating humour calms it down nicely.
Flappers
Can you give us an idea of the time frame you have in mind?I think we do and time will show that.
I disagree that he gives the impression he's under pressure.....he isn't.
Manager's fully aware that they will be here next season do experiment and you know, I know, everyone knows.....he will be our manager at the start of next season, 100%.
The jury is out on Silva. I see progress but I see also a sad continuation of established frailties.
However, we have to factor in Pickford. His form has destroyed our season single handedly. His catalogue of errors (with that derby catastrophe taking 'pride' of place) have skewed any analysis that can be made. The football has been decent, the application good; you just dont need a player in a key position making frequent costly errors.
Along with the summer failure to land a good striker, THAT'S been the deciding factor in our season.
I know he had a decent start in the league, but way too many people are sweeping his shambolic pre-season under the carpet. It was a sure sign of struggles ahead.I think there is some truth in this if you have good, talented group but they are being held back by ego clashes between rigid managers and the players, with justified complaints from the player side. I'd put the United squad in this camp as clearly the atmosphere had become toxic under Mourinho and he seemed insistent on playing alpha male games with his players. Chelsea as a group are less amenable to change I would say as there are problems throughout their squad (ageing defence, over reliance on Hazard, no striker of note, Kante out of position) and when the going gets tough they would be happier to lay the blame at another manager's door than take responsibility themselves. I'd class this as a mental weakness in the squad and would put our current lot in the same boat. They aren't a bunch of world beaters who need to be set off the leash, they're a group of players who haven't turned in an outstanding performance for getting on two years, less than a handful of very good performances in the same period and some of the most turgid and tragic performances in recent memory. It started well under Silva with all the right noises from the training ground about his sessions and the coaching, and the football was good for a while but as soon as problems started appearing the same old players started disappearing. It's telling that at the start of the season we were all taling about how there was suddenly competition in the squad and now all of a sudden the squad seems threadbare as there is a core of players at the club happy to accept a wage but who have no intention of digging in and trying to turn things around on the pitch. There are problems in the squad of course, as there are between 12 and 16 players who could be moved on and there is the glaring omission of a striker, but that doesn't stop or exuse the players who are there now from giving 100% on the pitch at the very least, and if they don't have that desire then no amount of coaching will turn it around - they just don't have the stomach for the fight.
Can you give us an idea of the time frame you have in mind?
Covering your bases then.I still think we will make a big signing in January if the player we want is available, if not, then we will go all in again in the summer.
It won't be a lack of money stopping us buying now.
I was fully on board with this being a transition season. I expected us to struggle. However, I expected Silva to use it as a learning season and tinker/see what works best with various players.
Unfortunately, despite early encouraging signs, I'm now seeing alarming amounts of Martinez-level "do the same thing over and over again and expect different results" behaviour from him.
He doesn't have the CV to suggest it's a blip either; this is the same type of collapse as at Watford, the same cluelessness in tactical awareness and motivational skill.
So personally I now don't see the point in persisting with him. Southampton tipped me over the edge, and I think it did for a lot of people. There's got to at least be little green shoots of recovery to give fans hope - but all of those signs lay away from the manager.
He wont be, no chanceI still think we will make a big signing in January if the player we want is available, if not, then we will go all in again in the summer.

Hang on, if we win our next game (Huddersfield A) and Watford lose theirs (Tottenham A), we’re above them HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Possibly because their trying to instigate a rivalry with us over a manager they sacked. Acting like they're flying high in the league when they are 3 points above us in a season we are considering as massively underperforming. Congratulations Watford! Why? He basically downed tools there when we flashed our knickers at him, and now he's not doing great they're enjoying it.
I would be in their position too.
If Brands is setting the template for the playing style and all Silva does is coach the players and select the first 11 then surely Marco is not as much to blame as it seems. If that really is the system in place then it does not sound very appealing to managers, as they will be hamstrung before they even start. They do if they've been told they can. If the remit from Brands is to have a play around and see who he wants to keep/who can fit into the system etc, with no threat of the sack unless it all goes massively downhill, then that's what he'll do.
Obviously I have no idea whether that's the case, but it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.
Conversely, they are much better off!I'm surprised people can't see the funny side. If that was us, it would be all over the forum. We made a big hoo ha of getting Marco from them and we are no better off, of course they are laughing, I would be.
