Just finished watching "live" delayed. Painful. Where do you start. Well it helps if the best players in the team can actually pass the ball accurately over 10, 15, 20 yrds. How many time Gomes and Iceland played crap passes was untrue. To watch players of such ability give the ball away time after time was heartbreaking. Theres more why we were crap but the best players failing to complete simple passes doesnt help.

I don’t know why I did it, but I just watched the game. Absolute torture.
I couldn’t avoid it because it was on the screens in the gym this morning.
Pickford asleep for the og. Only began to move his feet when it was too late.
What I was seeing was half decent build up into the area but no natural goal scorer.
They weren't as bad as I was expecting having seen reports on here and TW but next home game going to be interesting.
Two Portuguese going head to head.

Half time I thought we'd weathered the storm and would give it a go second half, especially since quite a few of their players had played two days earlier and would be feeling it in their legs.

The RS were losing, Salah had shown himself up again for diving and everything was sound.

10 minutes later we were a goal down, Salah was gifted a goal and Firmino had one deflected in to put them 2-1 up.

At that point I knew the weekend was over for us and it was another case of we lose, they win.

  • We were woeful.
  • They played with no heart.
  • Constant hoofing of the ball up front.
  • The players didn't look interested in playing at all, or even attempting to win the 50/50 tackles.
  • The formation needs to change.
  • Richarlison needs to be played in his correct position, he is no striker.
  • Silva needs to get control of the dressing room, I think he is too softy, softy with players who don't give 100%.

Our habit of giving the ball away sloppily whilst we have players out of position seems to be causing us a lot of problems.

A 4-3-3 with one of the midfield 3 sitting in front of the CB’s would make it easier to keep a better defensive shape when facing counter attacks. Passing to blue shirts would also help a lot.

Watching what it meant to those Southampton players at the final whistle, running over to their fans, fist pumping the air, I thought Shane Long's head was going to explode, he was that pumped up, then looked at our players feeling sorry for themselves, totally embarrassing. Another thing, you know when things are bad because I have never heard our away fans so quiet, apart from the woman next to me who was letting those on the pitch know what she thought of them.

I've always said the body language of the players mirrors that of the manager for me, Silva for most of the game just stood there, arms crossed, emotionless.
