It's clear that Silva sees Gomes isn't in form. So it's mad to try to play a system that absolutely relies on his ability. We need another way of playing for times like this. Southampton are garbage but their manager's plan (run a lot and press people) has worked and they are finding ways to win with a pretty poor squad. We are trying to play football that is beyond us when we haven't got key players in form.

When all has calmed down and frankly silly calls for certain well worn managers to replace Silva have ceased, we will set out on a long unbeaten run and then all will be well. Do I believe it? No, but what else is there except plough on. Feel sorry for the fans going all that way for another defeat. They deserve better for their loyalty.
