Brands looks to have done a good job so far but I don't like the way people say "I dont particularly rate him, but if Brands likes him then that is good enough for me". People were saying the same thing when Martinez was chasing McGeady and Funes Mori etc.

No I don’t think he has, and obviously I have no idea whether he’s interested or not. You’ve hit the nail on the head though, that’s what I was getting at, that idea that brands is infallible - when 99% had never heard of him 12 months ago - just grates on me. Just look at @hallamblue response to me. He doesn’t like batshuayi So has to rush to say that brands isn’t interested, as if he has the faintest idea. It’s a weird mentality.

To be fair most of us knew about Brands because Moshiri tried to get him in 2016 and Chelsea were also interested in him when Emanelo (sp) left

...taking Brands most recent statement at face value he said he didn’t expect to do business in this window but wouldn’t dismiss it totally. He’s also said the squad is too big and incomings would have to be off-set by outgoings.

Could be a game of dominoes going on, lining up replacements for Niasse and Gueye neither of whom will go unless buying clubs come close to our asking price. All supposition, of course, but I suspect nobody comes in until a transfer out happens.

Maybe I phrased it wrong. I have no idea if Brands is interested in signing Batshuayi. However, he hasn't pursued him. It's pretty obvious from the press stories that he is being offered to clubs.

Now that would be a better way round, as Zouma is almost certainly good enough to be in our squad for the next 2 or 3 years. Only problem is, I think Zouma reckons he's good enough to play for Chelsea.

Had me at clinical. We are lacking someone with the ability to put the ball in the net. Looks decent whenever I have seen him with a good goalscoring record in his career overall. For £14mill its a no brainer - we could recoup that on Niasse
