Just checking the stats on who scored.

Gana - 75 % accuracy (95 total passes) 10.1% of our total team possession
Dispossessed 0
Gomes - 82% accuracy ( 45 total passes)
4.8% possession
Dispossessed 2

I’m not saying consistently gana is the overall better player.

But he brings far more to the team than people on here make out.

The last two games he’s doubled gomes total passing attempts. Yes they are usually sideways or backwards. But recently he has been more positive in possession

He actually goes forward a lot more than people give him credit for. But regardless, he's not an offensive juggernaut. However, many posters don't understand how he enables us to attack from wide positions and how he supports Silva's tactics. Which is a shame. Too often it's this idea that when he plays, we are less effective in attack because he's not Sigurdsson in his passing.

In the dying moments of the game Vs Lincoln we broke, about 3-4 attackers all inside in our own half screaming for the ball forward.

All Gana had to do was hit it anywhere into the opposition's half of the pitch and we would've been on course for a 2-3-4 on 1 with the keeper.

He passed it straight to a Lincoln player.

This made me fume greatly.

Knew this pass would earn Gueye a post today

TBF it was atrocious

Really enjoying your blog but lost a point in my mind when I saw Loftus Cheek as a solution to anything

I was a cynic, and I think he was massively overrated for England, but I looked back at some Palace data/video and his passing was way better than I thought. Don't think Chelsea will let him go now and he apparently has a recurring back problem.

Everton standing in way of midfielder’s exit, player has ‘basically agreed’ on contract with other club
By letting the world know they were in need of a defensive midfielder, it seems Paris Saint-Germain have managed to shoot themselves in the foot.

Financially limited until next summer yet somewhat desperate for a player, the French club are being held at ransom around Europe, especially by a couple of Premier League sides.

Téléfoot looked at the situation on Sunday, and their information leads them to believe that Everton’s Idrissa Gueye is the ‘best placed’ to make the move to the Ligue 1 champions, but there’s still a lot of negotiating left to do.

The French TV show explained the defensive midfielder was ‘basically in agreement’ with Paris Saint-Germain when it came to his contract, but the Toffees were simply asking for too much.

At €45m, Everton’s supposed price tag is beyond what Thomas Tuchel’s club are prepared to spend in January (believed to be around €25m), leaving them in a bit of a sticky situation.

It seems unlikely that Farhad Moshiri will sell one of Marco Silva’s star players midway through the season unless all the money is up front, allowing them to then reinvest it directly into a replacement.

There’s a long time left in the transfer window, so nothing should be ruled out just yet, but it appears Everton are currently standing their ground, and it’s working.

When you dive and flip that often, it can lead to injury.

Gueye has always had his limitations which was reflected by the cheap price we got him for. He is unlikely to get better and will remain a poor passer of the ball. We either accept him for the stronger parts of his game or get shut when a better player comes along. Hopefully one day we will have risen to a higher level regularly challenging for 5th and players with his shortcomings can be phased out.
