He must get 7th with this squad come May, no excuse...not asking him to overtake Man Ltd for 6th btw.

So you would sack him if we finish lower than 7th?

Start again in the summer with a new manager? And if he doesnt get 7th, we sack him as well? So basically we spend the next 20 years in a transitional season?

Doesnt seem like a solid plan if im totally honest.

The squad is good enough to get 7th, I agree and im expecting 7th personally, but its not a deal breaker for me, im willing to give him at the very least another season.

The clubs we are trying to catch have been spending exorbitant sums of money for many years while we have been scraping along under Baron Stoneybroke without a pot to relieve ourselves in while we sold off the family silver.
In all likelihood it will take many more years of determined investment before we can hope to close the gap on the elite.
Despite their limitless wealth even City didn’t achieve it overnight.

No ones saying anything about the top 6 mate, I personally couldn't care less if we dont break into the top 6 in the next 3 seasons as they simply are far too ahead at present to expect instant changes.

What I do care about however is maintaining 7th as best of the rest and actually making big attempts at ending the trophy drought.

Out of the league cup at the first hurdle and league slip ups against clubs like West Ham, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Watford, Wolves and Bournemouth (many of those at home) is simply not good enough especially when our transfer and wage budget drawfs most of those sides.

What if we finish 13th??

I don’t have a clue, to be honest. I am expecting 7th with this squad.

If he gets anything below 7th in May it means there is no progress from Fat Sam’s results from last season which is quite alarming...if the style looks better and we have more shots on target per match then great but it must converted to results.

..Mina has actually looked comfortable in possession up to yesterday.

I think Silva is looking to be brave at the top away grounds. It almost worked at Stamford Bridge and Anfield. It means having players who trust their own ability to get their foot on the ball and keep possession. It’s why Bernard plays and Lookman doesn’t.

If you launch the ball downfield against the best teams, it’ll invariably come straight back. There’ll be a lot of pain introducing a new style and new players who fit the strategy. Time will tell if it works.
They played it short yesterday and it came straight back so what’s the difference??

If he gets us up to the level we were were at pre-Pickford-throwing-the-ball-at-Origi we will beat Spurs. Pivotal for us that Gueye is back and that whichever front three it is actually clicks.

Silva's biggest test yet to see if he's up to the job is if he's able snap us out of our rut here - a 4pm kick off, two days before chistmas, under the lights at Goodison and against big opposition is a great way to reignite our season and breathe some life back into Goodison.

I agree I dont think he'll do anything come the seasons end regardless of where we finish - however thats more of my feeling that Mosh isnt that interested providing we are not in crisis hence the infamous expected loss comment.

Hopefully we sign a ST and RW in Janaury and push on 2nd half of the season as I do think he has what it takes to make a success of it, however I feel our fanbase for the size and stature of it are far too accepting of mediocrity.

I accepted plucky 9th/10th finishes under Moyes and Roberto if they came because we were hamstrung by bungling Bill and his empty wallet.

Now we are spending large money and wages the expectations have to increase otherwise whats the point? Just give the large transfer and agent fees to charity and try survive like the Watford and Bournemouths of this world on limited funds.
Yeah, cos we are the only teams with “big” fan bases who have any struggles.

We have fared much better than Sunderland, Aston Villa or Leeds. By the way, all of those got into massive trouble by spending beyond their means.

Now I know we are owned by a “billionaire” but is our management being fiscally responsible? There are other clubs performing to a similar level with smaller outlays.

If we do well we will come 7th.

If we do badly we will come 8th.

The whole thing is pretty pointless really.

Go all out to win the cup, at least its something tangible.

7th gets us Europa League which

A. Attracts better players

B. Another chance to win a cup

C. A chance to qualify for the champions league should we win it

Those who say 7th and below doesnt make a difference are completely wrong imo.
