He obv thought we were going down last year and backed away...So that`s his level now, footy clubs that are almost certainly to be relegated ?

Ancelotti was jobless at the time.
We are far too small time for him tho.
That's why we have to plump for a Greek league winner, which is rated below the Scottish and Welsh leagues.
He obv thought we were going down last year and backed away...
So you would only give him 1 season?
Christ, thank God United didnt have such shortsighted thinking with SAF, thank God Everton the same with Kendall.
He needs more than 1 season, just like Pellegrini and Hosusususuusnetil need more than 1 month, the fact is that we swerved both these managers to hire Silva, history will judge the decision.
Lets see how it works out in 2 or 3 seasons, if we have a good squad and are still underperforming then maybe we can consider our options, but they wont be serial losers like Pellegrini or Housisisnetil.
It used to be English channel sized..I think we wanted a long term manager Frank, not somebody half dead like Pellegrini, not a club hopper like Carlo, I mean of course we were never getting Carlo.
Silva is young, hes bright and he plays attractive football, he got his teams playing attractive winning football in Greece and Portugal, hes yet to really do the business in this league, but hopefully with time, it will come.
If not we can just sack him and start again, I realise none of us are getting younger and I also realise how long its been since we won something, but why is everybody so impatient? They want it ALL and they want it NOW. Do "these" people not realise how big the gap is?
Football has moved on from the days of SAF and managerial longevity just isnt there anymore hence why the DOF role has become the most important at clubs.
Moshiri has put the money in and its upto him if he thinks he's haply for 3 seasons of 8th/9th/10th finishes when £100 million+ is gettimg pumped in season.
If he is then more fool him.
Well surely Moshiri has proven he wont accept failure?
Martinez finished 11th, sacked.
Koeman looked dead and buried, sacked.
Big Sam got us 8th, sacked.
Fools are not something Moshiri suffers.
Which is my point - ultra positive bloos may be happy for a bloke managing us to 8th/9th place finishes alongside clubs spending a 1/3 or 1/4 of what we are but I doubt the bloke whos writing the cheques will be.
People can argue back and forth but the reality is we are spending more money than any club outside the top 6 season after season (and are creeping up on both Arsenal and Spurs) 7th at ease and strong cup showings have to be the minimum target in my eyes before slowly building a side to push the top 6.
We cant even get wins against top 7-10 at the moment which is my point that Silva has to show progression over the 2nd half of the season to justify him keeping his job.
£85 million spent in the summer
2 loan players worth about £60 million
Likely another £40-60 odd million we will spend in January
If we dont finish 7th with over £200 million worth of talent whilst clubs like Watford are level despite spending 1/4 of this surely thats poor management? Hopefully Moshiri see's it as that if worst case scenario comes.
Think we've got to be patient as a fanbase, anyone who is just looking at the results is being too narrow minded. I know, in a transition season we should still be beating the teams we've drawn with, but that is the case every season, the club's mentality isn't one of winners yet, but it has slowly improved over the season. Our performances away at all the top 6 have been a lot of hope and just haven't been mirrored with the results. I mean if you were narrow minded you'd say, we've only scored one goal from open play in all those games. But that's not silva's fault is it? Yesterday was our poorest performance against one of the top 6, but we still could have had four goals, these weren't half chances we missed, they were 3 sitters from inside the box. Compare that to city, how many chances did they actually miss? Just the mahrez one where pickford saved you'd say as a really good chance they missed, and they nearly got an own goal.
Silva's set up is working, we're just not converting, pretty much every game we're creating enough to score 3 goals, but it's all to that lack of a top striker.
Compare our three and the prices we've paid, Tosun £22m, Niasse £13m and Calvert-Lewin £1m. £36m in total for three strikers, compare that to the rest of the top 6 and you'd be silly if you think straight away we should be higher than 7th. I set that as an ambition, but all of the top 6 have 3 or 4 attackers who have cost or are worth over £40m, with some worth double and treble those amounts. And we've been on par with all of them, but the price difference has shown. In previous years we've got better results there, but we've never matched these teams, we've gone there and defended for 90 minutes and relied on a bit of luck just to get a draw.
We'll pull away from the teams around us and they're not really that comparable because of our stature. Teams like newcastle come to us and set up with 11 men behind the ball and come for a point, teams like wolves are obviously going to find it easier because teams go there to have a go and actually try and win. If they have a few good seasons, teams will go there to shut up shop and they'll see how much harder it then is.

I think he will probably give him longer than a season, regardless of where we finish.
Take a look after season 2, not Xmas Season 1.

Martinez got 5th with a team that had the foundations of Moyes and had been together for the best part of 5 years.
Koeman got 7th because we had Lukaku.
Last season the league was dreadful. The fact we finished 8th said more about the other teams than us.
This season the football is better. The results have, by and large, been better. We've hit a bit of slump atm, and our last four away games have been against sides who will all expect to be in the top six.
As long as the progress can be seen in terms of our squad, our way of playing and where we want to aim for (which the progress can already be seen) I see little difference between finishing in 7th or 8th. But the fact is is that we've got half a season to go, and all of these sides we've just played away to play at home.
Perspective.
The clubs we are trying to catch have been spending exorbitant sums of money for many years while we have been scraping along under Baron Stoneybroke without a pot to relieve ourselves in while we sold off the family silver.Which is my point - ultra positive bloos may be happy for a bloke managing us to 8th/9th place finishes alongside clubs spending a 1/3 or 1/4 of what we are but I doubt the bloke whos writing the cheques will be.

I agree I dont think he'll do anything come the seasons end regardless of where we finish - however thats more of my feeling that Mosh isnt that interested providing we are not in crisis hence the infamous expected loss comment.
Hopefully we sign a ST and RW in Janaury and push on 2nd half of the season as I do think he has what it takes to make a success of it, however I feel our fanbase for the size and stature of it are far too accepting of mediocrity.
I accepted plucky 9th/10th finishes under Moyes and Roberto if they came because we were hamstrung by bungling Bill and his empty wallet.
Now we are spending large money and wages the expectations have to increase otherwise whats the point? Just give the large transfer and agent fees to charity and try survive like the Watford and Bournemouths of this world on limited funds.
