I wasn't looking forward to going to the game tonight at all, but I've got to say, seeing them waving inflatable snakes and foaming at the mouth at Silva will be worth the entrance fee alone.

I think it´s still a case of us needing better players all round. Cast your mind back to Spurs who were in a very similar situation to us, they had an amazing recruitment programme over a few years together with the emergence of Harry Kane.

Alli, Erikson, Vertonghen, Dembele etc were all purchased for what would seem like relatively low prices now. We´ve bought well this year but we now need these players to develop into top quality.

Are they capable of that? I´m not certain. I had high hopes for Bernard but he is taking time to adjust and I´m beginning to think his ceiling will be Pienaar type performances. Excellent player but below the Champions League level. Then there´s other players like Walcott who I think we need to upgrade on too. It´s a huge ask and it´s not simply just a striker we need, although it would help.
And that's not a good thing?

As I said in my post, we need to unearth some real gems that can play for the top 6 otherwise we won't reach their level. Bernard is clearly a good player but from what we've seen he's not at that elite level. Still early days.

If he's Pienaar MK2, I for one will be happy.

It already looks like Marco is one of those coaches who enjoys playing against footballing teams who are open but struggles against the bus parkers.

Klopp and indeed pep took a couple of seasons to work this one out.

Let's hope he learns of what they have had to do.

And he's not even all that.
