He’s a decent player.

I like him.

A few bad games don’t make a crap player.

Keane had a mare last year, got an England call up today.
Keane was 24, a reletive baby in centre half terms.
Walcott was a 28 year old winger, supposedly in his prime.

Therein lies the difference. Theo needs to sort out the inconsistency.

Very inconsistent and doesnt appear to be able to hit the top level and drag us into winning games.

Id really look to sell in Jan to a team in the bottom half and recoup our investment.

He's miles better than what we've been used to on the right, you have short memories you moaning Beauts. If he finished half his chances he'd be a top player, unfortunately sometimes he seems to need two or three chances but he's still capable of goals and assists regularly.

Always gets chances in games.

Just needs to finish them regularly

Just been on the footy programme on bbc 2. Has a target of between 15-20 goals this season. Think that’s unlikely with the amount of chances he misses.

Rating him on missed chances is less than half the story.
Just as important, if not more so, is his inability to defend up and down the wing,
ie we have others who can score goals but letting the team down in defence just doesn't cut it for me.

I used to think that he just wasn't prepared to put in the effort, like he was saving himself for the glory up the other end - which if you've ever played fullback or midfield it's something you come to despise in a player.
And while this may be the case, I've come to think also he just doesn't have the ability to defend, how to go body to body, to match it physically,to understand the immediate space, the instinct to tackle.
As much as you require skills with the ball, you also require a set to defend properly and I just don't think he has it, and believe he doesn't make the effort because he's afraid to be found out, to get injured or whatever.
I keep referring to this, but look at the Lacazette goal (go back far enough to when he was goal side of him). The point when Lacazette starts to make his run, there is no anticipation or reaction from Walcott as he goes past. It's like he doesn't believe there is anything that he can do to prevent him. He lets Kenny have to mark two players. How's he's got away with it for so long...well he was playing at Arsenal. But not with Everton.
Add to this the mostly one dimensional nature of his attack.

He may have contributed more than others last season, but that's not saying much.
He's a luxury this new squad should not carry past this season.

He has to do more have more to his game in the type of system Silva is trying to bring in and to enhance the players around him; like helping to create space for Sig to move in and play through the middle - rather than the other players just playing to set him up.

Having said all this, he actually had one of his best games against Brighton. Maybe this is as much down to Silva and players like Sig, Coleman and Gomes, their influence on and off the pitch is taking effect. And there's no way I wont' be cheering him on as this continues. He'll get goals and assists.
But this won't change the reality of his overall contribution. It might improve but not in comparison to others to come in going forward.
Its unlikely we'll get someone this January that fits the bill. So it looks like we'll have to cheer him for the whole season as Lookman doesn't have the pace/legs to start on the wing.

An important player, particularly if we want to play richarlison up front, walcott is the only one that makes runs off the last man, allowing richarlison to roam a bit more.
His movement is quite good. I just still haven’t forgiven him for standing and watching Martial score United’s second. One game like Bournemouth and I’ll be back on board.

Love how fans get abuse for criticising a player.

He is an alright player, nothing more. That's solely the reason why Arsenal got rid of him.

He's one of our highest earners, but he certainly isn't one of our best players. He needs dropping to the bench and then sold on in the summer. We can't afford passengers and his wages vs. his contribution are just not worth it.

Additionally, Coleman and Walcott down that right side is very worrying. Most attacks against us come down that side.
