Bernard and Richarlison are two of our best players.
Silva is rendering them and the sides attacking potential impotent by playing them this way.
He is sapping the creativity, craftiness, style and confidence by playing them this way.

Gomes and Benard should be in the half space, on the ball, controlling the moments of attack.
Bernard is not a PL winger. He's the guys that recieves the ball in tight spaces, dribbles, get the pass away for Richarlison or Sig or the RW, as does Gomes.
Bernard on the left doing this Gomes on the right. In the half spaces. Its simple.
Why Silva is not using them in this way, preferring to Bernard out on the wing is beyond me.
Rico to Bernard should have been the other way round. Goal!

I'm confused. One guy is playing out of his position to get him on the field. One guy. Who else is playing out of position?

Beyond that, we got a bit disorganized in the midfield a couple times, we allowed Coleman (or Gana/Keane while recovering) too often to have to defend 1 v. 1 in dangerous spots. We collectively did not do a great job of getting in passing lanes at times and weren't perfectly organized on D.

Still, if we make better decision, finish better - two free headers for example, we are right in there.
We're disorganised bc of the way Silva's playing them.
One clear example of this is Gana in attacking position when he is the last player you want there - his record of passing and shooting those positions if awful.
Bernard would be much better in those spaces.

Davies not playing so find another scapegoat. Coleman has a lot to answer for. His final ball today was awful.
Coleman's final ball since he's been back has been awful, not just today.
Sure bring Seamus back in against sides/wingers he can beat. Make him fight to get back in based on performances.
Kenny should have been in against United.
Anyone who is not kidding themselves about where Seamus is at, at the moment can see that.
Poor selection by Silva.

Agree 100% mate. Im an Coleman fan but he doesnt/shouldnt be starting atm. Felt Kenny was unlucky to be left out last week.

I have no complaints tbh, we played well and if people didn't switch off and we got the luck with refereeing decisions we would've, and should've, drawn. Everyone played well in my book apart from the obvious 2. I also think Coleman got made to look a lot worse by Walcott's reluctance to help him out against someone who is clearly deadly 1 v 1.

I’m happy so far with what Marco and Brands have done. We’ve had stacks of bad luck in matches but I’m confident we’ll beat one or two of the top sides this season.

We sorely miss a top drawer forward. By far the hardest position to buy for though.
I don't think it's bad luck. It's because finally we're taking risks after what seems forever, in order to improve. The team and the players will get better the more they play like this and the bad luck will turn if we have confidence to stick with it. I think the powers that be, do have the confidence in SIlva, and so do I.

You're right about getting a top drawer forward in. Come on Brands, sort it out.

His final ball has been a problem most of his career with us.

He can’t finish the chances for the players. Against Arsenal and United he’s seen Calvert Lewin pass the ball back to Cech when clean through and Bernard miss an open net. I thought a change in players might help shake the Everton mindset but it hasn’t yet. We need a result like City got at United when they won 6-1 just to absolutely banish the monkey on our backs once and for all.

A win at anfield perhaps?

Coleman has never had a decent final ball.

MOTD2 got it right tonight (well Ian Wright). Too many times we chose the wrong option or played the wrong ball in the final third and thats what cost us.

which tbf, is my main worry about getting in a top top striker. If we're playing the worng balls then it doesn't matter who we have, the ball won't be reaching them. It'll take time though, as the season goes on our front 4 (and backups) will know more of what eachother are trying to do, what runs they make etc. I mean we have been utterly wasteful this season, we arguably could be here having won all our away games.
