Jags was a part of the great FA Cup run to the final in 09. He was arguably the best defender in the league that season.

The loss of him and Arteta was immesurable in regards to taking on Chelsea at Wembley.

Add in bad injuries to Yakubu and Anichebe who both never truely recovered, and a memorable season became one of what could have been.
That's the only final I've ever seen us in. The most Everton thing ever that we played that game without our two best players. A champions league side would have came in for Jagielka that summer if he hadn't have suffered that injury.

Arsenal did come in for him on numerous occassions. He has always been happy here and is a club legend imo.

Shame he never won anything in his prime.
An FA Cup winners medal this year would be a fitting way to bow out, although I doubt he would make the squad.

Yes always said that the whole spine of the team missing, Jagielka, best defender, Arteta best midfielder and Yakubu best striker and top goalscorer. Yes that could be only Everton that.

He left it too late today. It didn’t work till 75 mins. Today lose is predictable yet the last 75 mins was encouraging performance.

We must win against the like in Cardiff and Brighton at home next.

Not sure about that mate, we looked better before we made those changes. Tosun and DCL meant that there was absolutely tons of space in the middle for United to break.

Unlucky today. Should of got something out of that between that terrible pen decision, Bernard's miss and Coleman's too.

Good to see him there talking with Siggy.

It's too easy to forget that apart from the physical part of the game that most of us lack, a huge part is intellectual.

Siggy obviously has that and as most players have said, Silva coaches individuals a lot.

Some players allegedly rely on their pace (Walcott) and can't be coached.

Hopefully lookman will prove to be an upgrade, I believe he will be an improvement on Walcott.

Yea I agree the subs left tons of space in the middle. Silva was doing a Martínez there.

Just think Silva left it too late to make the subs though.

Also, one more observation:

We've had 45 corners in our last 5 games and not scored one of them. Surely got to be working on changing that?

Well maybe if our manager would play the 6 foot 5 giant CB who scored 3 in the WC from corners we would pal.

Im in two minds with Silva, with a quality side he will prove to be a good manager however for me he's too stubborn and unwilling to change things up.

Today away to a top 6 side with no good striker and a winger playing up top - he decides to stick with the same side rather than realise until we sign a quality Striker and RB with pace to stop us being hit on the counter he needs to be a bit less gung ho.

Had we gone 3-5-2 today we would have got atleast a point today no doubt in my mind.

Also he needs to start raising the point of us being done by bad officials every week instead of just accepting it.
