Patience is key in games like this. They were intent on nothing more than spoiling the game. Apart from a 15 minute spell in the second half when we kept giving stupid balls away, I thought the players did well to stay patient and carry on playing, rather then resort to plan B of pumping it into the box which they would’ve just eaten up all day. The crowd backed that up by staying behind the team and urging them forward as well, rather than getting irate whenever we started passing backwards.

Although we were worried in the stands, I get the feeling that the squad knew that eventually our quality would show, and it did. We’ve got real strength in depth now.

It’s just great to actually enjoy a home game for a change. Feels like it’s been years.

Another clean sheet, another win, another performance where we always looked like scoring at some point, more good substitutions, another of his signings starting well.

He grinds out results today. We fail to break them down until Dcl and Lookman came on. 3 points today this is a phenomenal result.

We had lots of chances before that but the forward players weren’t decisive. That’s not Silva’s fault.

He couldn’t have done more. He sent out our best front four, he started Gomes, two attacking full backs. Then he threw on 2 strikers and dropped Siggurdson deep to effectively make it 424.

Within ten games he’s dropped Baines Jagielka Schneiderlin, he’s abandoned two holding mids, he’s moved Richarlison upfront to get Bernard in. We’ve gone for it in every single away game. Some of these changes are changes numerous different Everton managers have been unwilling or unable to do for years.

Couldn’t agree more. Added to that, has made a substitution at home first half with only minutes remaining as believed it was the right thing to do. Let’s be fair, he’s transformed the way we play from the previous incumbent. I look forward to going the game again. There will be times it doesn’t go as well as today - he gets the kudos because of the impact of the substitutions today but I think the he got it wrong against Southampton.

Only time will tell about how good he is, or isn’t, but he must be given time, alongside Brands - but results like today will only help!

Great, isn't it, when positive decisions from Mr Positive pay off.

The thing is, there will times when they don't. And that's when we fans need to stay patient and give his regime time to work, otherwise we will continue to chop and change managers and end up getting nowhere.

This could quite easily be the best appointment made for a very long time.

We only achieved that once in the whole of last season. Never under Sizeable Samuel.
