New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

61878 seats will not get filled every week if only fans born in Liverpool were allowed in. Im a southern blue, get to 2-3 games a season & love my club.

61878 seats will never be filled. Because the club will never build a stadium at that capacity as it won't be commercially viable. Stop living in dream land.

I don't understand why you would say that a stadium of 62k would not be viable, are you also saying that a stadium of 55k is not viable either and if so what size stadium should we be building or is it somewhere between the two and on what basis would that then be viable ?
Maybe you mean we won't fill a stadium with the bigger capacity, but then a stadium is built for future generations and it is difficult to predict what capacity will be needed in future years.
If we had a scenario where Usmanov did join Moshiri at Everton and Silva proves to be as good as we hope then with sufficient investment it could easily be that the capacity of a 55k would not be enough even before the stadium is actually built.

I have no idea what the future holds but the scenario painted above shows just how easily a lack of ambition could be a limiting factor for a long time ahead.

The number of times there has been regret at the dismantling of the Overhead Railway. Another decision made with no foresight at all.Particularly when you see what New York has done with the defunct Elevated Railway!
Not exactly true Ste.
The overhead railway was overhead of the steam railway lines too. The smoke fumes had rotted the above framework to a dangerous degree. It was going to fall down unless big bucks...really big bucks were spent. Plus there was, due to slowly increasing of post war affluence...cars etc. and decreasing dock usage, falling revenue Vs returns for these big bucks

At what point did i say i wanted 61878? At what point did i say it was realistic? At what point did you read my comment that states those two things?
My comment was about fan exclusivity because I'm not a "true blue" born & bred in the south in response to previous posts before my reply.

And so what if someone wants or hopes for 61878. I would rather be that person than the guy who drags people down.

I genuinely enjoy reading things like this which I just never knew or appreciated.

It was something like this that made me fall for my Christopher @nsno-chris when he was talking about Peel etc.

Well in lads.

All right lad
You off to uddersfield sat

Oh! The irony! My explanation or defence of the Board's not seeking £500m in loans to build a stadium at a time of financial uncertainty makes me a Red. By that twisted logic, Bill 's a Red, too, I suppose? And Moshiri, and the rest of the board? The stadium will be built, but probably not yet though.

I put enough evidence in my post to make this a reasonable position; you didn't read it. Sorry. No point in discussing it with you then.

Why is so high profile anyway?

Had a stadium designer ever been so in the limelight as him? Couldn't tell you who designed most stadia. What is the name of the fella who did Spurs? Who designed Anfield's main stand? The Emirates?

Normally they just keep their heads down and design the thing, our guy parades round getting tattoos, mouthing off on twitter and does very little actual designing.

The only man I can think of whom is actually famous for designing football stadia is Archibald Leitch....and I bet he never sported a tattoo

Be intereresting that with an 8m tidal swing.

While I love seeing the old railway in pictures/videos I'm glad it isn't there along the Pier Head/Albert Dock area any more. Would be great if it was ground level through the centre and elevated again from St Nicholas onwards.

Last thing we want to be doing is to add another level of complexity to crossing the already far too large Strand. The Strand cuts the river off from a city that largely exists because if it. The sooner they reduce the width of that thing and send the cars through a tunnel, the better.

I've been a fan of the 60k no less debate.

But, logically thinking I would think a stadium of 61878 would be too big for us.

London clubs get away with it because they are in the capital. Spurs / wham /arsenal will have no end of tourists queuing up for spare tickets as London is one of the busiest cities in the world.

Like it or not, the rs are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and have fans flying in to be part of it. We unfortunately are no where near them regards WORLD WIDE fan base.

Mam City are the closest club to assess ourselves on. Even with their recent success and brand of football they still struggle to sell out their 55k stadium. That is very telling.

It takes a generation of great football and multiple titles to add 15k season tickets / extra sales to your fan base. United and Liverpool are the proof here... Man City are ten years into there revolution and still aren't there regards World wide appeal.

We are nowhere near any of the clubs mentioned above.

The last thing I would want is to be going to a 62k stadium with 45k fans in it for 9/10 games. We are asking Dan meiss to give us an intimidating atmosphere, that would be impossible with a 62k stadium.

I think the 55k is more than enough for us,like it is for man City.

I've always wondered why we haven't just done a Paris style underpass for the road. As you say that crossing really seperates the two parts of the city. I'm really baffled as to the thinking behind keeping it there but reducing lanes.

What sort of increase in season ticket & general ticket prices do you think there will be for the new stadium? Hopefully it won't be too much.

If you look what West Ham did, they actually lowered the prices, especially for the youngsters, it worked for them. If we are expecting to fill, 55'000 / 60'000 seater stadia, then we need to make it competitive, at least at first anyway.
