Unless you know for certain the details of the funding model now being considered then I would suggest you cannot make a rational judgement whether it has been a waste of money or not.
I'm not privy to such information so I shall reserve my judgement until such time.

Massive building projects like this take a huge amount of time and planning could take years before the actual building starts. The jokers saying they have it on good authority that it’s off because of this or that cannot provide a single shred of proof to support their claims and some folk on here lap it up

This is going to be a long process so if you thought it be ready in a couple of months they take a lie down in a darkened room.

..I agree it will happen, but I also think fans reticence is perfectly understandable given the lack of communication, missed milestones and previous false dawns.
