Jose Mourinho is boss

The weird thing is we’d be the perfect match. He’d be absolutely worshipped in a way the United fans just never will. He’d be hailed as a genius for even modest achievements. He’d take credit for everything with no super ego players getting their lip out because they’re not getting enough praise. There’s be no qualms about the style of football if it was winning. If one day Silva has taken us as far as he can then Mourinho would be a great fit. I think he’ll go back to Inter though. He wants the respect that he deserves, he’ll never get that in England from a Liverpool biased media. Every week there’s some ex RS muppet on Sky Sports or BBC telling everyone why he should be fired. He won’t put up with that much longer. Nor should he.

not by me he wouldn't. He's a massive bellend who would destroy our club

Scholes on BT - “I’m sat here surprised he’s here after Saturday. He’s coming out in press conferences, having a go at players, people above him.” “I think his mouth is out of control and he’s embarrassing the club.”

I know Scholes is a bit of a dopey tit but this really doesn't look good from Mourinho at this point.

Oh, right. So he’s only getting all this stick from the RS biased media then? Think it goes a little bit deeper than that.............y’know, like the majority of ex Man Utd players and and the vast majority of supporters. Are they all RS biased too?

I reckon Jose no longer cares about anything but fattening up his retirement fund. Seems pretty tortured at the moment. (Perhaps due to his fathers death)

Woodward needs to sit Jose down and tell him if things go on like this he will have no choice but to sack him, given that wouldn't it be better to have a team meeting clearing the air, apologising for saying that they are going to struggle with this team and try and have a fresh start with all the players giving them the necessary love and ego massaging? (Yes lie through his teeth!) That way they might be able to limp home (but at least look like they can win most of their games) to the end of the season where they can review if they can bring in the players that Jose wants and get rid of the trouble makers or part ways.

Cause unless utd can get someone like Poch they are going to have the same problems so seems to me they need to do something radical here. I doubt anyone is that pragmatic in football but you saw even with Ferguson with Rooney sometimes you have to swallow your pride to live another day.

Seriously? The majority of United fans HATE him and want him gone. They largely echo Scholes' sentiments.

As for going to Everton, with all due respect, look at the clubs he's managed since leaving Portugal; some of the the biggest & richest clubs in their respective leagues with virtually limitless transfer/wages budgets. He is (or was) all about winning titles with pragmatic, risk-averse football. He's not about getting hero-worshipped for "modest achievements". Modest achievements do not look good on his CV, nor can he quote them when telling us what he's won.

He obviously will never come to us, I’m just saying that it would have been a good match. If he won trophies with Everton they’d be modest achievements for the likes of United but he could claim them to be huge achievements for us, that was my point, he’d be a history maker.

His situation at United is a little similar to what Silva has here. A squad that has suffered through years of poor recruitment. Their best outfield players Matic Pogba Lukaku are all Mourinho signings. The problem is everywhere he looks aside from what he has brought in there is players not at the top level. The likes of Rashford Lingard Martial Mata are good but it’s not like he’s suddenly inherited Hazard or De Bruyne is it. Jones Smalling Young Valencia Fellaini are just poor although he’s utilised Fellaini ok. The problem he’s faced is that he had to sign big players for big fees to get the quality to what it needed to be. He took over a side in 6th under Van Gaal. A bit like Silva has had to do with Richarlison Mina etc. The problem is the support cast is a lot poorer than the fans think and the fan expectation is a lot higher than the bulk of the squad is capable of even though a lot of money has been spent.

I actually think he’s done a decent job. I know it’s an unpopular opinion and the Liverpool fans are giddy at the moment to burn him at the stake, but that squad he inherited was abysmal. Nowhere near a title winning squad. Nowhere near Chelsea City or even Liverpool’s squad. To win two trophies with them in his first season then to finish second I think was unbelievable progress. It’s just because it’s United though nothing but challenging at the top is acceptable. He’s made some errors undoubtedly like Lindelof and his man management seems to have gone off the boil but I don’t think the job he’s done is that bad. The truth is that if he’d had the first 2 seasons Klopp had 8th and 4th with no trophies he’d have been gone. So he’s caught in a trap between having to get results to keep the rampant fans at bay, but not having the time to get players who aren’t world class playing a style of attacking football that might mean they don’t get the results like Klopp hasn’t. It’s a huge job.

I agree with @Saint Domingo it may actually benefit him going to a smaller club at this stage, the Chelsea team that he went to did not have superstars in it. Jose needs to be the biggest ego at the club and he has found that at teams like Utd and Real that isn't going to be the case. If he goes somewhere where the players look up to him and are willing to follow his instructions to the letter we will probably see the best of Jose.

Of course he isn't going to come here but people who doubt him would do well to think twice before casting off a serial trophy winner.

I get the point you're making, but he's invested big every transfer window bar the last, where it seems Woodward has lost some faith in his eye for a player.

He's taken players like Sanchez & Martial and seemingly made them into worse players. Sanchez was heralded as world class before joining Utd and has somehow been abysmal in his time there. That is largely down to how Utd play which is entirely down to the manager.

He's looking increasingly like a manger/coach whose best days are behind him.
